Cool Baby Carriers for a Hot Summer
April 12, 2018 8:00 am | by

Even though this midwest winter seems to be neverending, warm weather will eventually be here. I am so excited to take my kids outside to play and explore new things and places. My little guy is about to turn 1, and he is a wobbly walker. For outings that require lots of walking, I love to strap him in a baby carrier and go. The only downside is that St. Louis summers are hot and humid. Sometimes, coming in contact with another human is just about the last thing you would want to do. Luckily, there are some lightweight and

Babywearing Guide

For centuries, mothers around the world have worn their babies. Through generations and across cultures, mothers have recognized that wearing their baby is an essential aspect of parenting — it is also practical and fun too! Babywearing is the practice of carrying, or “wearing,” your baby hands-free with the aid of a fabric baby wrap, baby sling, or structured baby carrier. Outdoor Fun With Toddlers
March 13, 2013 2:00 pm | by

Now that the weather is warming up for most of us, you’ll notice there are a lot more opportunities to get outside and have some fun with your kids at organized events such as farmers markets, music festivals, art festivals, and other local or civic events. We are particularly blessed to live in a large urban area that offers a ton of family friendly activities. One of our favorite activities is a nearby art festival, which we can walk to from our house. Over the past few years, we’ve taken our children as babies and toddlers to various events and

Baby Wearing: Should we offer safety checks?
September 20, 2010 11:03 am | by

We noticed comments on the Cotton Babies Facebook page this weekend about a picture posted of a mama wearing an older baby on her back using a stretchy wrap. She was shopping our Cloth Diaper Garage Sale this weekend and clearly enjoying her day… Understandably, a few people were very concerned about the way she was wearing her baby. Don’t go look, to protect her privacy we deleted the photo. However, this raised a pretty hairy topic this morning that I thought we should discuss with you. The way the baby was being worn isn’t recommended by the manufacturer. It

Some of my favorite baby shower gifts…
October 14, 2009 2:53 pm | by

I am not a mom, but I am a very proud “aunt” many, many times over. As such, I find myself constantly going to baby showers – all the time lately. I love going and celebrating the life that is coming into the world. It is so important and significant to me to honor the women in my life and watch, love and support them as they have cared for the life growing inside them before they even met them…face to face that is. Now, every time I am invited to a shower, I want to take something really great,
