I received 3 of Flip Trainer kits as a gift for my daughter and have used them less than 6 months. 3 snaps have now pulled out of the sides of one, all rise snaps show signs of pulling out soon on another, and on the third at least 2 side snaps are about to pull out. My daughter is 2, only weighs 27lbs and still wears 24month pants, so I know she is not too big for them. I also have 2 other Flip trainers that are much older, which I received from another friend who had used them with her two girls. On the OLD ones, which have been used for close to 2 years, all of the snaps are perfectly fine although they are quite pilley. Since the newer ones were a gift (from someone who has since moved to Europe), I do not have a receipt. Customer services said they'd replace the snaps (which I can do myself, so why pay shipping to have them do it?). A crappy quality product backed by equally insufficient customer service. I have cloth diapered both my girls with BG products and easily have over a $1000 worth of merchandise from them. I'm sad to say, I will think long and hard before purchasing anything from them again and I certainly will not be recommending this product!

I bought only the shell, because I diaper with the flip system and have almost 100 of those inserts not to mention some prefolds and flats. Everything seems to fit and work just fine inside the trainer shell. Even without the velcro everything stays in place ok. I bought this for my 7 year old daughter who still wets almost every night. She is just now becoming aware (after summer camp) that wearing a "diaper" at night is not cool. And I was long tired of pullups. Every training pant I tried either got disgusting, because the absorbent material was sewn to the waterproofing and grown up pee really gets it smelling foul, or was woefully inadequate when it came to absorbing and stopping leaks. I bought the lovelace pattern and she loved them. I bought the disposable inserts for her to take to camp and she is very relieved to have a "nighttime underwear" to take to camp. We've been using them a couple weeks. Note - we already don't allow liquids after dinner and she goes to the bathroom right before bed to minimize whatever mess may occur. So far - my flip microfiber inserts seem to do an ok job. Some nights I wish I had put a doubler in there, because some wetness has gotten on her pjs and sheet. But it is a small amount that can be easily managed. I have noticed that she seems to wet much less often. I don't know if the feel of it wakes her up or what. I haven't used the disposable one yet. My only complaint (which is really more of a beg) is that these BARELY fit her. PLEASE PLEASE make larger side panels Cottonbabies!! Otherwise I am going to have to brush up on my sewing skills, which aren't that good to begin with.

I have 3 covers and 10 inserts. The over all design is great and well constructed, except that you have to add the laundry taps on each time you have to wash them. Wish they were sewn into them so you don't loose them. These work great on my 3.5 yr old for bedtime. If he wets his insert at night then we just change out the insert and rinse the shell. Works great but we had to wait a while before they would work over night b/c the inserts don't absorb like a diaper would. If you have a heavy wetter you might need to add a insert. This is a great option if you don't want to buy expensive pull ups. These will last us for 3 kids so we are really saving money!

I admit, I used BG 4.0 and disposables before the Flip trainers; my success with Cotton Babies is what swayed me to order from them again. I was looking for a trainer that would work away from home and my little one treated disposable trainers like diapers. Initially, I would have rated Flip trainers 5 out 5, but yesterday, I noticed after washing them (and I follow directions exactly!) piling around the edges. I also wish the side panels matched the cover. However, the function of them is wonderful! I love the inserts (so soft against skin, no rash issues, and do not retain smells after washing- a problem I did have with microfiber inserts). I used these for when we're away from home and bedtime; no leaks or extra inserts needed for my little one. I just wish I had one or two more. Two is not enough! Four would be ideal.

These were my first purchase into the cloth diapering world. I bought them for PT (on the weekends) while attempting to potty train my 16 month old son. At first, they seemed cool. Easy to figure out since I had never cloth diapered before and I liked the idea of the inserts. Within 2 weekends (so 4 days) of using them, one of my snaps came off the shell and I couldn't use it anymore. I've since returned it and am waiting for another replacement shell. I originally got the white or "Noodle" colored one which I wouldn't recommend. Sure they are washable but my son got washable chalk on the shell and it wouldn't wash out. The few times I used them I was impressed with the absorbancy and we never had a leak. I will say that my son did not ever soil them (since we were training) and I don't use them for naps/night time since I was only a PT cloth diaper user. They worked well for what I was using them for, but I was very disappointed that the snap broke after 4 days of using.

I bought one starter kit last week and I ordered with it three of the Hemp Double Ups (large) as was recommended in the reviews. I open the cover up and lay it out like a diaper, and I layer the Hemp Doubleup and the Organic Cotton Liner together with the cotton on top and lay them into the liner making sure the velcro on the liner catches on the top velcro of the liner area. I then snap closed the shell and hand it to my 4 year old daughter who goes potty by herself, puts it on by herself with no issues, washes her hands and goes to bed. In the morning, there is no leaks and she is a heavy bedtime wetter as she does NOT wake up even once to go potty during the night. She has no problems removing the trainer and putting it in the sink for me to rinse the liner and wipe the shell clean. I hang the shell on the towel rack to air and reuse for bedtime. I just ordered a second shell but will stick to just the three insert sets to ensure frequent washing. I do not feel that the snaps are flimsy; they have the same strength feel to them that the flips covers do and my daughter used those without a single issue from 18 months to 4 years and they still look brand new! I do not feel that the Organic Cotton Liner would be good enough on it's own to prevent leaks and would appreciate it if Cottonbabies would make an Overnight liner specifically for the really heavy hard sleepers. I don't think I should have to double two liners together and there is potential for liner slippage that way since they can't securely velcro in as well as the Organic Cotton Liner is designed to since I have to put the Hemp with it. Also, even though the weights chart says I should be using the one row of snaps showing for rise, I leave it all the way open for a better fit on my 30.5 lbs, 37.5 inches tall 4 year old. I doubt it will fit to 50 lbs as advertised but I sure hope she is night trained by then!

I've been a huge fan of these from day 1 when they came out almost a year ago now. I bought these to use as diapers since my son outgrew one size products at 18 months & I saw that these are listed as fitting a much higher weight limit. They are getting the job done & very well at that. Now we are working on learning to potty & they are great as trainers, too. I like the sizing on these. Many other brands of trainers only fit to 35 lbs & have completely forgotten about the larger than average toddler. Thankfully Flip as not. I have also tried the Flip disposable inserts in these & it was a perfect, leak free fit. I do use 2 inserts in the covers since he's a super heavy wetter (he has a lot of medical problems where he's on a liquid only diet & has special needs). I also wrap the top insert inside a Cotton Babies stay dry sock since my son needs stay dry. But with 2 inserts, these hold up to naps, horrible yucky messes (due to his medical issues & odd diet, we deal with meconium like messes every day & never a leak with these) & even overnights with no leaks! He's in bed for the night with one on right now (we co-sleep so I would not use a night diaper that I wasn't sure about since I don't want to wake up at 3 am to a wet bed). These are trim enough to fit under any clothing he has (even with 2 inserts) and I love the inserts so much I even use them in other diapers to give them a boost. I'd highly recommend these to use as trainers or even as a diaper for larger than average toddlers (my 2 year old is 42 lbs) & children with special needs who need a little more time to learn about the potty. My only con is that there is not a stay dry option but the stay dry socks are easy enough to use and certainly don't break the bank.

Okay, I'm a disposable diaper user. But when it came to potty training my son the pull ups seemed to make him lazy when it came to going the restroom. So I decided to step out of my comfort zone and try the flip training pants. They are a lot like undies, not bulky. They are waterproof so I'm not steam cleaning my carpets three times a day. And most importantly my son was and is excited to wear them. Only down fall is you have to wash the inserts so many times in the beginning its quite a pain. I dont use them at night so I don't know how they hold up. I havent had problems with snaps. You just can't pull to hard.

I bought these for my daughter a few months ago. First I ordered another design but after using it twice it ripped so I had to send it back and got the purple one instead. We started using them a few weeks back and I had nothing but problems. The buttons on the side opens up, it leaks a lot at night and my daughter can't pull them up or down herself. I wish I could return them. I am frustrated I paid so much money for them

Love this product! I ordered the training kit, 3 extra cotton pads, and a package of disposables. My son is 24 months and potty trained during the day but not during naps or bedtime so instead of ordering a ton of cloth diapers (because we used disposables) I decided on these. After prepping them when I got them I was nervous how absorbent they would be, but they worked great! During nap time I used one cloth insert and bedtime I used two cloth inserts. I'm VERY happy with this product and I haven't had any problems.

I am sad to say that these are inconsistent. I used BumGenius throughout diapering and absolutely loved them and never had problems but these are only okay. They pull on so I am still using the shell, even though 1 out of the 3 I have leaks. The reason I give these only 2 stars is because of the inserts. I have 13 inserts and only 5 of them are sewn correctly so those are what I use. The others bunch in the middle because the inner layers aren't sewn on the edges, who wants lumpy underwear?!? Not my daughter, she hates them. I just started using them and unfortunately ordered another one prior to testing them out because of all the success I had with all the other cottonbabies products. They are a bit too much like a diaper too. She will only have an 'accident' when wearing these. Definitely not my favorite.

This product was hard to rate, I think it really depends on what you are using it for! The pros: it is well constructed, the side snaps worked well and I really like that the inserts used Velcro as opposed to snaps. This product works really well during the daytime when LO is able to go frequently and be changed often. The cons: it did not work AT ALL for us as a nighttime trainer. The inserts are just not absorbent enough for a beginning learner and we had a lot of leaks overnight. The inserts are a little on the thin side (width) which is fine for day use, but again, not for overnight use.

This trainer was so bad! We are casually introducing the idea of potty training, so our daughter only wore this a handful of times -- before one of the snaps broke right off! Looks like a couple other reviewers have complained about defective/cheap construction, too. Also the velcro pad system was pretty cumbersome. Luckily she never pooped during the 5 times she had them on! Too bad; I love the Bum Genius 4.0s, but I'm not going to deal with Flip again. Since the replacement shell I reluctantly got (via the "warranty") might break at any time (and it didn't even come in any packaging so I can't sell/exchange it for full value -- thanks a heap, CB), it's headed for my yard sale or Craigslist . . . At least I'm using the cotton pads to line some other little undies/bloomers around the house to teach her about wetness. What a sad ending.

My 2 year old has just started potty training and I have the Flip Covers so I thought I'd give these a shot. I am generally very pleased. The inserts it comes with work great during the day time when she has an accident. I switch to Babykicks Hemparoos during nap and bedtime and that works perfectly! They're super cute, can easily be pulled up and down, and contain any accidents. Only reason I put four stars instead of five, I wish there was one more adjustment size. Having the rise snaps all left opened is too big but the next set snapped down pulls it a little too snug/low...but my daughter is quite tall and thin.

I really like this product! I use it for my 4.5 year overnight, instead of a disposable pull-up. He can pull them up and down easily and they are sturdy and have held up well. Also he doesn't mind wearing them. Even so I have a couple of issues with them. 1) Some of the inserts have shrunk enough since we started using them that they no longer can velcro to the trainer at both both ends when it is on the largest setting. This causes bunching. 2) I have to double up the inserts at night as there just isn't enough absorbancy to get my son through. This also causes bunching as one insert is not attached to the trainer. It would be great if Cottonbabies made an overnight insert for the trainer. Other than these issues I really like these trainers and plan on using them and purchasing more for my younger son when it is time to potty train him.

Wow,I am really surprised at the bad reviews because I love these!Got them for my then 15 month old to use as reg diapers/trainers because previously was using disposibles and didnt wan to invest twice in a short period of time.I have had no prob with leaks at all and being an older nurser,my son still has MESSY poops at 19 mos. I had only one poop blow out and that was when he was sick and the poop was basically water. I normally just wipe the cover out and let it dry in between changes so i alternate covers thru out the day if one gets very yucky.I do use a hemp doubler at night and the one time I didnt he woke up wet, but u cant expect a cotton pad to absorb for 6 or more hours.During the day I change him at least every three hours and havent had a problem. My toddler loves to pull them up amd down (we sing the song for those OTHER pull ups ;)to try pottying and has been totally interested and going a few times a day since we got these, which is awesome but also makes me sad because I want to get a lot of use out of these cute dipes.Even my hubby is a fan and he thought I was nuts at first to want to cloth diaper.

I got these for my 30 lb 19 month old. She is mostly using the potty, but still has two or three wet diapers a day. These have been great for the transition. They hold a fairly good size pee without leaking and are much trimmer than diapers and much much easier to put on. (We were using fitteds and covers before since she essentially outgrew her OS BumGenius.) Once I got the sizing right, I haven't had any issues with the pad bunching or shifting.

I got this for my 35 pound 4 year old to wear at night. He loves it and it fits him well on the largest setting. He has a little bit of a tummy, but even so, it is hard to see how this would fit up to a 50 pound child! I bought a hemp insert in size small to wrap around the flip insert. (I did not want to use extra disposable inserts as the website recommends for overnight.) Perfect combo! It leaked a little the first night, but I got him up once to go potty last night and it worked great. If you have a heavy wetter, you may have some issues. The size of the flip inserts are surprisingly narrow, even more narrow then the inserts for the regular flip diapers I bought for my upcoming baby. On the plus side, the hidden velcro helps the insert stay in place perfectly, even after pulling down and back up in the middle of night! I'm glad I bought this!

We have experienced an epic fail with the Flip training pants. I say this with sadness, as I used nothing but BumGenius and then Flip with my son and now with my daughter. I was expecting to love this product and went through hell and high water to get it (I'm in Canada; it wasn't available here; I had it shipped to a post office box just across the border; had to get my aunt to drive down and pick it up, yadda yadda yadda). So I have looked for every way to like it. But I do not. 1. The pants have been well cared for but they are coming apart. I am not new to cloth diapers and I have loved this company's other products: BumGenius and Flip. They are the only cloth diapers I have ever used (and that's all I use) on my two children. I would sing from the mountain tops how great those products are. I have had the training pants for... just over one month. The snaps have failed entirely; where they haven't, they are about to. So I stopped undoing the snaps at all anymore because they fall out. The fabric around the not-yet-failed snaps is starting to fray; it is a matter of time before those snaps come out too. Not being able to undo them makes it difficult to change the liners. 2. My son only needs to use training pants at night; I have been using the cotton pad and a microfibre insert (from the BumGenius diapers) as well, as recommended. The pants leak. 90% of the time. I might as well have my son wearing nothing at all for the times I have to change his bed. 3. As far as I can tell, they are very difficult to pull up and pull down for my son, although he has tried and managed it. *I* find them quite difficult to pull up and pull down when I try to help him -- we have been waking him up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. Tonight, the inserts are nowhere near full; the night is young; his bed and pyjamas are soaked because it has leaked again. EPIC FAIL. I'm just gutted. _sigh_ I wanted to get through this diaper and toilet training process in cloth and only cloth. Back to the drawing board -- and to the store tomorrow to buy some disposables because I am DONE with this.
