Cloth Diaper 101
a comprehensive resource
about cloth diapers!
Product Description

"I just returned home after a 3 week holiday to the States. We flew 39 hours each way, did two 20 hour trips in a sleeper train and two 11 hour car rides, all with Flip covers, disposable inserts and a petite 19 month old. I only doubled up at night (he sleeps 12 hrs), changed 3 hourly in the day (though twice I went as long as 5 hours!), and NOT ONCE did we have a leak or a rash! Thank you Cotton Babies for yet another amazing product!!"

I recently used these when we went on a 6 day vacation. I used them inside Flip covers and they worked just okay. My main problem with them was that they were so long. My ds is almost 2 so he wears large diapers, but I still had to fold over the top of the Flip disposable inserts to fit properly in the cover on the largest size. There are no gussets, no sticky tape on the back to hold the insert in place. So, the insert had a tendency to bunch up and messy diapers ended up with messy covers. If we go on another vacation I'll skip the disposable inserts and just grab a pack of disposable diapers for the week. These are, however, good to keep on hand for those days you are running low on your cloth diapers and need to catch up on laundry. Or if your little one has a bad rash that requires non CD friendly rash cream.

I have used cloth diapers since my daughter was born. I love my bumGenius 4.0's and my FuzziBunz , but when we decided to go on a cruise this summer I decided after much research on using the Flip disposable system. I ordered the 3 pack covers and 4 packs of disposable inserts for our 7 day cruise. they worked perfect. They are super absorbent and we didn't have any leaks, even overnight. I brought a little pack of diaper soap with me and hand washed the covers as needed and let them air dry. They dry super quick since it is just the outer shell. I was worried that I would run out of the inserts, but I still have a pack and a half left. Now that I have the covers I also don't have to worry about running out of diapers before wash time now. I can use my extra cloth inserts with the covers as needed. I am so glad I have added the Flip covers to my stash!

My 3-year-old is still not dry over night, and she sleeps 11-15 hours, so I definitely need a diaper that goes the distance! She outgrew her bamboo fitteds around the time she potty-trained (daytime), so I opted to go with disposables for overnight. The problem was that even so-called "Overnight" disposables didn't hold enough. She would wake up soaked up her front and with wet sheets. So I ended up buying a package of the Flip disposable inserts. I use them inside a disposable diaper, and it allows us to get the absorbancy we need to keep her jammies and bed dry alllllll night loooooong. My only complaint is that if I don't fold the Flip insert to double it up in the front of her diaper, it ends up really scrunched up and very narrow inside the disposable diaper (same thing happened when I tried it in the Flip cover) and then only the very front of the insert is wet; the back half is completely dry but she's still leaking pee up the front. This morning I weighed her disposable diaper and the Flip insert when she woke up, and together with the pee, it all weighed 18 oz. She's a heavy wetter for sure, but her jammies stayed dry!

What a great idea for moms on the go. When I first switched to cloth diapering my baby i had to get a pack to try them out, I just didnt think that it was a good idea to be changing my daughters diaper and storing a soaked out liner when I have to tote my daughter around with me. These liners absorb and hold in anything my daughter challenges me with. These are super soft and are a far better option for the environment when you need a disposable option.

I do not like these inserts. We bought them thinking they'd be great for vacation, but they are not nearly absorbant enough. They are handy and light to travel, but I would very much prefer to wash out flats on our trip. You have to put at least two inserts in for daytime, and three at night to not leak. I've never tried them on a younger baby but I would never recommend them for a toddler. They're just not enough.

These are awesome!!! we've tried the gdiaper and grovia brand and these are by far the best! They are super soft and work even on my four year old OVERNIGHT!!! The only complaint I have is I'd like to see them in a 100count package. The gdiapers disposables can be bought in large quanties for less. It'd be nice if the flip disposables could compete with their prices.

Better than the stay dry inserts. I EBF and the stay dry inserts NEVER catch all the poo. If I fan these out, they do! They are super soft and pretty absorbent. I bring these for trips over my BGs. They take up the same, if not less, space than sposies in my diaper bag and they are good for treating rashes. Also, they are cheaper than grovia inserts and fit great in the grovia shells. ;)

I received a pack of these free with my purchase some time ago. I never really planned to use them and honestly had forgotten I even had them. Fast forward to this week: My one year old developed a yeast rash and I dreaded the prospect of putting her in 'sposies while I treated the rash. My husband reminded me we had these so I pulled them out. I am very impressed with how much urine they hold, even overnight. I have had to change out the cover a few times when she has soiled her diaper, but I have several Flip covers, so no big deal there. Overall I am really happy with them, especially since I haven't had to put my girl in a nasty chemical diaper! I should add that these inserts are much nicer than the original disposable inserts that were released when Flip first launched. They are wider, more absorbant, and MUCH softer.

I used these on a 10-day trip with my 3-month-old recently and absolutely loved them! They are so incredibly soft. My daughter is a pee machine but she never leaked. And the price is just fantastic... just about the same as your average disposable diaper, but these always contains the mess because of the Flip cover! I see a lot of reviews complaining that these aren't good for poop because it gets all over the cover, but hello, that happens in ANY diaper cover system. If this is a problem for some, then I'd say that the Flip system works best once your kiddo poops less frequently than those initial few weeks. Still, messes mostly just wipe right out, so it doesn't bother me at all. I rinsed and reused the covers with these disposable inserts the entire vacation and never once had a pooplosion on my daughter's clothes. Fabulous!

We love using these disposable liners! They hold pee very well for my 6 month old and my 27 month old boys. I double them up at night time and they wake up dry with no leaks. They do get messy when it comes to my little ones poo but hey that's what diapers are for. I must say that if I were using a full on disposable diaper his poo would be up his back and on his clothes so I'm ok with a poopy cover and clean clothes. I use them while out and about, I stick the pack of 18 liners and a couple flip covers in the diaper bag and we are good to go. I also use them when I need to apply rash or medicine creams. I like the ease of throwing the insert out and washing the cover. Flips have cut down on my summer laundry and I'm pleased with their line of products.

I love these. My baby has sensitive skin and sometimes gets a rash on his bottom from what he eats (after he stools). Anyways, the only diaper cream that clears him up is not cloth diaper safe, I just add one of the these on top for a few days, slather on the diaper cream, and his butt is free and clear in no time!

I bought some of these for a cross-country car trip. During the half day before the trip, I gave them a try so that I could wash up all of her diapers and not leave anything sitting wet at home for a week. I actually hated them and decided against using them for the trip. The main thing I disliked was that they are wet against the baby's skin and don't seem very absorbent. I tried doubling up for her bed time, and the pads became soaked too quickly to use overnight without her getting a huge rash. I guess I'm just not a fan because one of the main reasons I use Flip is to keep her skin dry without the chemicals of disposable diapers. These work more like stuffing a Flip with a prefold diaper in that the wetness is still next to her skin. So if you don't mind wetness next to the baby's skin and don't plan to keep your baby in these for more than about 1-2 hours at at time, these might work for you.

I was so skeptical of disposable inserts. I have a great collection of inserts and other types of diapers for covers, but I did get some good use out of this Black Friday deal! I would not have tried them if they did not come in that package! They are very large, about the size of the pads hospitals give new moms to use, but unlike those pads, they are soft to the touch and very thin. We used these in econobum covers, and I was skeptical of their absorbency, so I added a microfiber insert underneath. I didn't even need that! My 18 month old son was able to go just as long between diaper changes as if he were using a BG pocket diaper! For night time use, I added a prefold underneath, and he also slept 12 hours and wasn't totally soaked in the morning! This product meant that I could bring only a small wet bag for our 3 day weekend trip! I was so impressed that I ordered another package for Christmas traveling! I think they are less expensive than paper diapers, and my son did not get a rash from them as he often does from the non-premium paper diapers. Great job, Cotton Babies!

I've never had any desire to use disposable inserts, but I got these in the Black Friday deal, and they turned out to be very handy. We visited my mom whose washer was broken, and used these all weekend. When my six-month-old pooped, it didn't even get on the covers. I came home with only a few covers to wash instead of a whole wetbag fully of dirty diapers.

I have been using both the stay dry and the disposable liners on my two week old. The stay dry caused a rash because all the bum genius detergent didn't rinse out (yes I used a second rinse and followed the directions), so I had to switch to disposable liners until the rash cleared. At first the older style were very bad at keeping poop off the liners. Then the new style came out that are wider, but only because of the tabs. Well those tabs don't hold in poop either. My boy soaks through a liner, which then bunches up and when he poops (he's EBF) it almost always makes its way onto the cover. I have tried making sure I stretch the liner out once the cover is fastened, but same result-poop out onto the covers. Unhappy with the design - a liner too small width wise for the cover it is designed for. Would not recommend the flip system and especially not the disposable inserts.
