Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Joanna on Monday 29 April, 2013This sprayer is multi purpose. I would recommend getting an adapter and attaching to your laundry tub/sink. It can get difficult with overspray when attached to toilet. Also this can be used for rinsing tub/toilet after cleaning. When y are done diapering your kids, this can also be used as a bidet, thus saving you from using a significant quantity of TP. I didn't have this with my first child and cleanup was do-able but this definitely helps. Rating: [4 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Rachael on Sunday 31 March, 2013 Cotton Babies Verified Purchase We LOVE this diaper sprayer. As soon as we started added real food to the mix, it was a requirement! While it's true, you can create a similar contraption from spare parts at a hardware store, this just works. It's so easy to install I literally put it on in about 30 seconds.
Unfortunately, parts of it are plastic, and with that comes the potential for breaking. Ours worked great for 6 months, with no issues. But somehow in our move it broke, sort of. It still works, just sprays some extra water out of places it shouldn't in the handle. So it's not designed to be packed up in a box with kitchen supplies and shipped to the other side of the world. So what? You are just attaching it to your toilet where it will safely stay in the provided hook, ready for use.
It is on the costly side, but you can't beat the convenience. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by paulina on Tuesday 19 March, 2013 Cotton Babies Verified Purchase We love this product. It makes diapering easier. My husband had no problem installing this, it was quick and easy. We haven't had any leaking. Just make sure to turn it off when you're not using it! I really wouldn't want to be without our diaper sprayer. Genius! Rating: [1 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by EMILY on Sunday 16 September, 2012 Initially, I loved this item. We are almost an exclusive BG family, so I thought it made sense to get a BG sprayer. I agree with other reviewers that the spray-back can be off-putting, but I also discovered there is a bit of a learning curve. Then, after owning this item for a little over 8 months the handle started sticking and is now on the "on" position all the time. Needless to say it is very frustrating! Financially, I cannot pay for another sprayer (one of the MAJOR benefits to CDing is the $ I save!) so we will have to go without, a major bummer since it has also been a lifesaver cleaning diapers AND the potty our 2.5 year old uses. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Evelynn on Tuesday 31 July, 2012 I've been cloth diapering for 5 months now & absolutely love this diaper sprayer. I'd have a tough time cloth diapering without it!! It's definitely a must-have!! My husband was able to install it rather quickly, and I've had no problems with it at all. I like how you are able to adjust the pressure easily with the handle...don't need much to spray the diapers off. I've also used it to spray out the potty chair of my 2-year-old during potty training. Rating: [4 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by elizabeth on Friday 06 July, 2012 Cotton Babies Verified Purchase We've been using this sprayer for almost two years - and I've recommended it on numerous occasions (even purchased it for my sister-in-law a few months back as a shower gift!)! We love it... well we loved it until today. Today, the spray button stopped working - it's pressed in and will not come out. I have to admit I am devastated... because I don't think we can afford to buy a new one. I have contacted by phone and email the contacts listed on this product page, and I truly hope we are able to either get a replacement part or a replacement sprayer. This tool has been instrumental in the success of our cloth diapering... and without it, well... Rating: [4 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Kimberly on Sunday 11 March, 2012 Cotton Babies Verified Purchase Overall, we totally love this sprayer. It has made cleaning out diapers so easy--and I think has been partially responsible for how long we've CD'd! We've cloth diapered since my son was born (he just turned 2) and we plan to CD our next child (due to arrive in late May).
However, I will say, I am slightly disappointed in the construction. After ~1 year, the black button broke, causing it to leak. We were supplied a replacement button pretty quickly (~1 week) and free of charge. We had no additional problems until a few weeks ago, when the sprayer started to leak again. This time, there was a huge crack in the main plastic tubing inside the sprayer. I'm not sure if 2 years is too long to expect for the lifetime of the sprayer, but since product has been invaluable to us, we're replacing it with a new one. Rating: [1 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Brittany on Monday 06 February, 2012 Very cheaply made. I loved having a diaper sprayer, but the trigger started sticking a couple months ago, and today it broke (after less than a year of light use). Upon further inspection, the inner parts are all made of cheap plastic and two little pieces broke off inside the sprayer button. This should not have been a surprise, as the outer part is also made of cheap-feeling plastic. It is NOT metal.
There is no way to repair it. However, I googled and found multiple tutorials on how to make your own sprayer out of quality materials for less money than purchasing another BumGenius sprayer, so that will be our project this coming weekend.
I was hoping BumGenius would have used quality materials, since I love the diapers. But I would not dream of buying diapers from a plumbing supply company, so it goes to show that I should not have purchased plumbing from a diaper company. Rating: [3 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Carolyn on Tuesday 08 November, 2011 We have been using this product for about 7 months now and I have mixed feelings about it. It's easy to install, we've installed it on a couple different toilets with no problems. However, when we use it, there is a water drip that occurs from the sprayer (not the connection) if you don't hold the sprayer in an upright position. It also sprays poop off the diaper in a fashion that causes airborne poop! The poopy water gets on the floor and all over the toilet. It's very tricky getting the right pressure and trying to avoid flying poop everywhere. I am far from mastering it, even after 7 months of use. To me, the flying poop is better than trying to clean the diaper by hand - hence the mixed feelings. :) Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by sarah on Tuesday 08 November, 2011 Cotton Babies Verified Purchase I love, love, love this product! It has made cloth diapering an easy experience. Its really easy to use, and makes a big difference in washing--less stains/odor buildup. Just use the handle for the water flow to adjust the pressure, and it is easily controlled. Overall, I can't imagine not having this! Rating: [3 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Stephanie on Sunday 06 November, 2011 I have mixed feelings about his product. I love the power it has to remove poo from the diapers, however my main issue with it is that its impossible to rinse a diaper without then having to wipe down the toilet and surrounding area with toilet paper or a towel. When using the sprayer on the pressure setting that is strong enough to get the poo off, the water goes everywhere.
My second issue, it leaks. I've been using it for only 1.5 months, and I just found out its been leaking almost constantly - its actually caused water damage to my apartment building. I installed it correctly and always turn off the pressure after I use it - so why is it leaking? I'm really disapointed that it leaks, I had to uninstall it because its already going to cost me enough to fix the damage its caused.... Rating: [3 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Allie on Wednesday 03 August, 2011 This worked great for about 8 months. Then the button stuck down when I was using it and broke. Cheaply made parts and now I have to figure out how to get parts or buy another one. Not looking forward to having to buy one for $45 every 6 to 8 months since we plan on continuing to use cloth diapers. They should have a warranty and should last at least a year in my opinion. Rating: [1 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Rebecca on Tuesday 02 August, 2011 I am giving up on this diaper sprayer. Every time I use it, I end up with poop sprayed all over the walls and floors. To be fair, my husband is able to use it without making a huge mess, but he has a delicate hand. I just can't seem to get the hang of it, and I get less mess by dunking the diapers in the toilet instead of trying to spray them. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Michelle on Tuesday 19 July, 2011 Cotton Babies Verified Purchase You simply must own one of these if you are going to cloth diaper. So simple. So wonderful. So worth it. Rating: [3 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Danielle on Tuesday 19 July, 2011 Cotton Babies Verified Purchase Used this sprayer daily for about 6 months until it broke. It's definitely nice to not have to scrub the poop off by hand or dunk the diaper in the toilet, but after regular use the trigger got stuck in the down position and that was it. It's no longer usable, and we have to purchase another. $100 a year for sprayers kind of negate the cost benefit of cloth diapering.
Pros:
Powerful spray -- gets poop off well.
Small -- inconspicuous when hooked onto toilet tank.
Cons:
Powerful spray -- though it gets the job done, you really have to play with the shutoff valve to regulate the pressure otherwise you will have a mess of water and sprayed poop everywhere.
Flimsy Construction: Leaky, plastic materials. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Sabra on Wednesday 06 July, 2011 Cotton Babies Verified Purchase MUST HAVE! I love this diaper sprayer! I makes cleaning up the poo so easy. It is well made, easy to install and easy to use. I wouldn't want to cloth diaper without it. "Swishing" diapers in the toilet may sound like it would be easy, but trust me, it's harder than it sounds and you wouldn't be able to get some of the sticky stuff off. Spraying them is very effective and keeps the poo out of your diaper pail (less odor) and out of the washer. I had high hopes and expectations given that it has the bumGenius name on it. First of all, it was not at all easy to install. After many attempts, I could not get the hardware installed for it to work. Water everywhere and incredibly difficult to screw on no matter many times I lined up the threads. It also arrived missing the nut that is necessary to assemble the hanging portion of the device... which happens to be a European or metric thread that cannot be found in the US which meant a trip to Lowe's was not going to resolve that issue. And lastly, the spray nozzle is plastic and feels cheap. Overall it’s not worth the $45. Rating: [3 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Susan on Monday 07 March, 2011 I have mixed feelings about this product. I agree it makes cleaning up cloth diapers easier but the set up for it is not 100% easy. It called for some type of precise cutting "flush" of the handle part without a special tool this is impossible therefore the handle of the sprayer leaks whenever we use it. I wish this was already cut "flush"when we recieve it. View all 109 reviews |
