Cotton Babies Verified Purchase
I really love Cotton Babies diapers, and this detergent has some very good qualities. The detergent itself rinses out completely (no stiffness or crunching sound of soap still in the microfiber after washing). However, after a few washes in a row with it, I've noticed that my diapers are not as clean as they should be--they still have an odor after washing. We have very hard water, so I tried increasing the detergent as instructed, but the diapers still aren't coming out clean. I actually plan to keep using it for the final wash in my routine because of how it clean it rinses (I often do a third hot wash of just inserts and prefolds), but I'll probably use something else for the main wash cycle.

I received some of the sample packets in a few orders. I figured I'd try them out, what could it hurt? I usually just use Arm & Hammer on my diapers like I used for regular laundry. And I've NEVER used powder detergent before, EVER. I'm in love! I have a GE Front Loading HE washing machine. I also have naturally extremely soft water, so one sample packet is enough for at least 2 loads of diapering laundry. I have used it now to prep all of my diapers, as well as wash all of the ones I had stored up, as well as using it to do a sanitation wash of all used diapers I've received in trades or purchased. It's wonderful and I will DEFINITELY be buying more when my sample packs run out!

I bought some bunGenius detergent to use for diapers in preparation for a new baby. With my older kids I just used mainstream free/clear detergent and would deal with the issues that came with them. I have two still in diapers overnight, and although we'd been using disposables, with a new baby in cloth coming we've gone back to cloth for overnight for them too. I had two super stinky overnight diapers that had been forgotten for a few days in the bottom of the pail and figured those were a good candidate to try the bG detergent on. I didn't even do a pre-rinse, I just washed in hot with two rinses and they came out totally clean and fresh smelling. I was so pleased with how well the detergent worked. I also just used it to wash a pack n play we were given by a family member that was dirty and in desperate need of being washed from being stored for the last year. I used the bG in the bath tub to wash it, and not only did it get the PnP fresh and clean, it was super easy to rinse out! I've never been one to go with any products that are considered "specialty", but after trying the bG detergent, it's made a believer out of me.

When I purchased this, we were pretty happy - the price per wash was reasonable, I liked the recyclable packaging, and it seemed to get the diapers clean. However, after many months of use now (our one package lasted that long!) I'm not planning to purchase it again. It seems to give my daughter rashes, it took me a long time to realize that it's probably the detergent. Once I realized I started using HALF the recommended amount (part of why it's lasting so long!) and that seemed to help, but if I overscoop even the tiniest bit we're back with rashes again. And now they've changed the packaging so it's no longer recyclable... I'm moving on to Planet, or back to Nellie's.
