I was trying to use the G Diapers for about 2 months and no matter what I tried they leaked. Nappy brand was ok but still not the right fit. Fuzzy buns didn't make the cut either. A friend of mine gave me a couple of bum genius 4.0 and I LOVE THEM. I didn't want to spend the money but I found my self washing the bumgenius every day to use them. (I only needed to wash my G's every 2 1/2 days) So I ended up buying 24! My son is super skinny and even the disposables leaked but not the 4.0! I started using my 2 diapers when is was about 9 lbs and very skinny legs not a leak yet and their probably should have been a couple since he can be a heavy wetter. I love these I only wish I would have known about them for my 2 older children. I could have saved a fortune! Then I found out I was pregnant with my third child and we decided to make the switch to cloth. We started out cloth diapering my second son when he was a year. My daughter was born when he was 20 months and we've cloth diapered her the whole time. After a solid year and a half of cloth diapering (we have 36 4.0s total), I would say this...the 4.0s are such a fantastic product! I have had very few problems with them...the only ones being minor leaking and occasional diaper rash. Both of those problems were more of an "operator error" than an issue with the diaper...for the leaking, I just needed to add an extra insert at night. For the rash, I just needed to be a little more hands-on with the rinsing process when my kids were having "newborn poops." (Watch out for build-up around the elastic!) I have no issues with these diapers and I would recommend them to anyone. HUGE money savings and I actually hate using disposables now on the rare occasion that I use them circumstantially. Follow the washing instructions--with your own modifications after trial and error--and you won't regret the decision. Oh, and I recommend getting the snaps. The first 12 diapers I purchased were hook-and-loop and they wore out so quickly. I just converted them to snaps and now they're perfect! However, after 10 months my bumGenius diapers were no longer waterproof. I hadn't followed the directions and used bleach too frequently (maybe once a week, instead of once a month). I also put the diaper covers in the dryer and have since learnt that they should only be hung to dry. I returned the diapers to CottonBabies along with the receipt. Within two weeks they mailed me new diapers along with directions. CottonBabies sent emails keeping me up-to-date on the return processing and handled the entire exchange amazingly. I am so glad to have new diapers again and will do my best to wash them according to the directions this time! I got these in the mail and washed them and dried them and immediately started using them. I have used fuzzibunz for 8 months and decided to switch after getting a couple of used bumgenius on ebay. These are by far more superior than fuzzibunz they also do not leave red marks on my babies back!!! If your any mom like me i do not like to leave marks on my poor baby. These have not leaked at all yet. Fuzzibunz leaked all the time. I do not no if i was using them wrong or what. But to me if I am going to cloth diaper it should be simple and to the point. Fuzzibunz were neither. Even when i would let the back elastic out it still left red marks it just gapped more in the front Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Maria on Sunday 22 May, 2011 Cotton Babies Verified Purchase I absolutely adore these diapers. I live in Michigan where very few people seem to use cloth so everyone told me that I'd hate them, it'd be gross, and that it would wind up a waste of money. After the third week, I waited until my DS's umbilical cord fell off, we started with 24 of the 4.0s. For the first month and a half it was washing diapers every 36 or so hours but now at nearly four months it's down to every 3 or 4 days! He was getting rashes with the disposables and horrible blowouts and leaking. Now we do still get some leaks but my son pees more than I do it seems like and it's really not very often. Never a blow out. I use Charlie's soap powder and it seems to work really well, I don't think I've lost any absorbency though I'm not 100 percent on if it's an "OK" detergent for these diapers. I use a washable liner with washable BumGenius wipes, a great method and makes diapering very affordable after the initial investment. Oh, and best of all: My husband uses them and even thanked me for buying them and saving us the money. At first he thought I was insane. I used the velcro diapers for my son and switched to the snap diapers for my daughter and the snap diapers are so much better. After time the velcro begins to wear and gets rough but still works. Use the BumGenius powder detergent, it works great and does last a good month (I wash mine every day). Love all of the fun colors too : ) Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Cynthia on Friday 18 March, 2011 Cotton Babies Verified Purchase When I started looking into cloth diapering for my daughter EVERYONE recommended Bumgenius Diapers, so I bought a couple along with a few other brands to try and I was really impressed with them. Everyone I know that has succeeded in cloth diapering from birth to potty training has used Bumgenius diapers. I now have a 12 pack, and just ordered another 12. I did find they were too big at first - she was only 6lbs 8 oz when she was born, and used some homemade ones for a while, but now that she's bigger, I LOVE them. I have very few "accidents" with them, and she never gets diaper rash, which is amazing as we were having accidents every time she pooped with disposables, and I couldn't seem to get rid of the rash. They are SO easy to use that even my hubby will use them and actually finds the cloth easier to change than the disposables. I am SO happy with these diapers, I will recommend them to Anyone that is considering cloth diapering. They work so great and really rarely leak. With the "newborn" insert that they come with, used as a night doubler, I'm confident my 11 month old will stay dry all night. I have 15 Bum Genius Dipes and that is a great number for 1 baby. I do laundry about every 3rd day:) Very happy with these!! Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by James on Thursday 19 August, 2010 Hands down, the best one size diaper on the market. We have used these since they first came out. I ordered 3 at first and I quickly headed back to my local supplier for more! I was so happy when they started offering these with snaps! The snaps don't rub little buddah bellys and they really hold up. I know that from using my BG organics. I like knowing that my baby feels dry (especially at night). I have seen no red marks on her thighs either. I feel like my little one is totally comfortable and I can rest at ease. They are easy to care for as well. I just lay them out instead of drying them in the dryer because they really air dry quickly (I do dry the inserts in the dryer). I also love how trim these are for One size diapers and that she can actually wear her little 3-6 month outfits. I could go on and on. This is just the best diaper out there! Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Jessica on Friday 13 August, 2010 Cotton Babies Verified Purchase I just ordered these diapers after months of reading reviews on other brands. After a full day of washing and drying they were ready to use and super easy to use! I bought all snaps rather than Velcro figuring that they will hold up longer and be harder for my son to pull them off in the future. They are great! I had leaks the first few times because I sized my baby as a small but he is a actually a medium, that was user error, but easy to fix! My breastfed son had major blowouts in disposables but so far these are holding everything in. I also bought the flips which are great too! I bought 12 bumgenius & 2 flips with 6 inserts and they are just enough to get thru a day+. I will definitely be buying more for my stock! View all 12 reviews |
