AWARD WINNING! bumGenius 3.0 DELUXE All-In-One Cloth Diapers Reviews (21) Write Review Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Jessica on Friday 22 January, 2010I absolutely LOVE these diapers. My son is a heavy wetter and these are perfect night time diapers with a doubler stuffed in them. I highly recommend these to anyone. I stopped using cloth for months because every other brand kept leaking. These dont leak! Rating: [3 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Linda on Saturday 16 January, 2010 We ordered a few of the XS AIOs (in butternut and blossom.. LOVE the colours!) to get us through the tiny newborn period. I really like these diapers, especially b'cuz even daddy can handle a diaper change! They fit really well and are super cute! But I do have several issues with the AIOs. I'm having major stain issues (exclusively breastfed poo), and nothing I've tried has been able to completely get rid of them. Unfortunately I live in an apartment, and our building never gets any sunlight. Also, it takes way too long to dry b'cuz our dryer (provided by the apartment) really really sucks. As much as I like these diapers... the convenience factor just isn't worthwhile enough for me to purchase more. I definitely prefer prefolds+cover. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Jamie on Tuesday 22 December, 2009 These diapers are awesome! A lot of other people have complained about stink issues, but I think that is all in the detergent used. I use Allen's and we have NEVER had stink issues or buildup issues, even on diapers that have sat in the pail for 4 days. (We also never have stain issues). These diapers are great and easy to use - especially for grandparents and dads. They may take a cycle and a half to dry, but drying outside in the sun for 1/2 a day will work too. They do hold surprising amount of liquid, and are fairly trim. I got some new and some used and both are holding up well. I love how easy these are compared to stuffing pockets! Great for grabbing when you are on the go and don't have time to stuff pockets! I highly recommend the AIOs and the One Size, but I just love the convenience of the AIOs. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Amber on Sunday 13 December, 2009 OMG!!! I bought the bg's aio diapers for my 4 month old boy a few days ago and Im back to order more!!! These diapers are amazing. I thought I would need to add an insert to these, but to my surprise my baby wheres them 4 hours at a time and his skin stays dry!!! There not hard to wash or dry, if you fold them inside out drying time is much faster! I don't think these diapers could get any better! Your saving money and the planet and keeping dangerous chemicals off your babies skin! ABSOLUTELY worth the money, buy these diapers and you wont be disappointed! Thank you for these truly amazing diapers! Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Theresa on Sunday 29 November, 2009 How I get One Cycle Dry time with my BG AIO 3.0
1) After my wash cycle, I take each diaper out individually
2) I fold the diaper in half, lengthwise with the PUL on the inside. (make sure the diaper is right side out; for some reason you'll get more water out of the diaper if it is right side out)
3) Then I wring out as much water as I possibly can.
4) Next I flip the diapers inside out and toss them into the dryer
5) Finally, I add a small fluffy bath towel into the dryer load
I love my AIO 3.0 on my EBF newborn. I skipped the xs and started with small. The smalls were a little big until my newborn hit 8.5- 9 lbs but that was only a week or two after he was born. These diapers are very trim on a young baby, compared to the BG OS. I have a set of BG One Size which I use with my toddler.
In my opinion the BG OS don't fit well until about 4 months so the AIO's are a great first diaper.
I Love the BumGenius products, but I don't think I would use AIOs with an older child. Mainly because solid food poop is a little more difficult to clean. I like BG OS pockets for toddlers because you can wash and rewash the inserts if they aren't clean the first time around. (Exclusively breast fed baby poop comes clean a lot easier and is no problem for the AIOs)
Lastly, the Velcro seems to stay better, longer when the diapers are washed inside out.
(Too bad Cotton Babies hasn't figured out a way to perfect the Velcro on their diapers; which is the only common complaint of all their diaper products.) Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by christy on Friday 27 November, 2009 I use BG 3.0 All in one with a rotation of flip and 3.0 one size. They are a great diaper and the one I reach for first. Dry times are a little longer than the others, but it is worth it for the convenience! These diapers are great and very easy to use - better than disposables in my opinion. I also love Cotton Babies. They have wonderful customer service and are dedicated to their customer and their product. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Jill-Christie on Tuesday 03 November, 2009 I have been using the BGs OS & loved it! With our growing family we had decided to try the AIo's BG because it gave out great reviews. In my experience with the AIO's, I am pretty pleased & absolutely satisfied with the convenience & the functionality of this dipes. I know some folks are having problems with the "stink" & some folks would have drying issues as compared with other dipes. but hey, this ones an AIO & it's not just a layer of terry cloth. I have my personal experiment to make it come out clean from the washer & dry faster in the dryer. I would usually, pre-wash it in the tub using cold running water to eliminate the urine & the "poop" then let it drain in a designated colander ( 4 dipes only) then dump it in my diaper pail. then I wash it inside out to wash the soaker well. plus, the microfleece isn't so hard to dry so, I let the micro terry surface out to get washed well. the stains easily washes out plus doing the inside out makes the dipe dry easily. Having to try some tricks would definitely do the job to get a squeaky clean AIO's. I love this dipes & I give it a 5 star because it has the convenience of a disposable but the work-horse quality that doesn't leak & is really gentle on my babes bums. love it! Rating: [1 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Kimberly on Friday 25 September, 2009 I've been using these about 6 months and they are very easy to use the problem with them is they don't clean well. My washing routine is cold wash, hot wash, and extra rinse. I use a small amount of country save detergent with both washings. My prefolds come out smelling clean and fresh but the 3.0 AIO's always need to be washed another 2 or 3 times before they no longer smell of urine.
Another problem for me is that it takes 3 drying cycles to dry them but my prefolds are dry in just over 1 cycle.
I much rather use the prefolds and am getting rid of the few AIO's that I have.
The one size 3.0 has a removable insert and washes much easier and drys faster too so if you want a simple diaper I recommend the one size over these. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Katie on Monday 21 September, 2009 I've been using the XS Deluxe AIO's now for the past month and half. During the research phase, I purchased one each of these AIO's and one of the Bum Genius One Size to compare. When my daughter was born she was 6lbs 12oz and was absolutely swimming in the One Size but the XS AIO fit perfect. I only bought 10 because I knew she'd be out of them in no time and now I'm back for a set of the One Size, which still seem big for her (10 lbs) but will have to work!
If I could afford to stay with the AIO's I would. The only downside is that they take FOREVER to dry. I would dry them on medium heat for 60 minutes and then air dry them outside for the remainder of the day. Even on a hot sunny day they would take a good 8-10 hours to dry completely. So you will need at least enough to have one batch available for use while the other batch drys. In my case this would probably be about 15-18 diapers.
I was completely skeptical and against the idea of cloth diapering but figured I'd try anything once when my husband suggested it. It's actually not that bad! I've only had a few blowouts and that was just because we were getting used to fitting them to our baby's skinny legs. The laundering has been pretty easy when the instructions are followed and I find that drying them outside when possible REALLY helps with odors and stains. Leave them out in the sun for a day and the stains are gone! Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Nakia on Thursday 20 August, 2009 I purchased these and the one-size Bum Genius for my 4 m.o. DS. They're perfect- as easy to use as a disposable, and you can toss them in the wash. These are especially good for active little ones- this brand is the only sort that my munchkin can't wiggle out of. And as they say, I buy diapers once (well, once per size). Then I pass them on to other new parents. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by april on Saturday 15 August, 2009 LOVE LOVE LOVE these! They are so simple and easy to use. They are perfect when using on a baby that wont sit still for diaper changes! The husband and grandma love these too! My daughter is 1 now and we have another on the way and plan on using these and the organics! Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Vironica on Friday 03 July, 2009 As a new mom, I was excited to give cloth diapers a try. I ordered the Bum Genius 3.0 one size diapers before my little girl got here so I would be ready. Well, when she got here, she did not weigh enough and wasn't wide enough to wear them. So, I ordered the AIO's XS. I have to say that we have been using them for about 3 weeks, and I love them. They are super at holding a lot of stuff, and aren't so bulky that they look terrible. They work just as easily as the disposables that I had to use while I waited on the AIOs to arrive. I would recommend them to any new mom--especially if their baby wasn't at the 7lb mark when born. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Elizabeth on Tuesday 19 May, 2009 I have 16 of the one size bumGenius 3.0 and they are the best diapers ever. I wash them every other day or so and they don't smell. The instructions they came with said to bleach them once a month, so maybe that's why I've avoided odor? They do take a little while to dry, but I make sure I dry them on low heat since I read that high heat can damage the elastic. They've only leaked once and that's because I had her in the same diaper for over 12 hours. They are great. The only minor drawback is they are a bit bulky and her clothes need to be long from neck to crotch to accommodate the extra fabric, but beyond that, I love these diapers. And they are far cuter than disposables. All my friends thought I was crazy, but the effort is minimal, and mama is saving money! Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Nicole on Thursday 16 April, 2009 I LOVE these diapers! My husband was skeptical of switching to cloth diapers (he's the best daddy & doesn't mind changing diapers) knowing how much work they could be. These are so easy!!! No different than disposables. I do stuff them with a doubler (I have a heavy wetter) & have had NO problems with leaks. I haven't had any issues with odor either, however I use the bumGenius odor spray. I would definately recommend these diapers!!! Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Brittany on Friday 13 March, 2009 I love these diapers!!! I bought just enough that I have to force myself to wash each day, but I prefer it that way. As opposed to other reviews with stink, I think I've completely avoided that with regular daily washings. No stains, no stink, no stuffing, no cover!!!! These are a dream come true!! Rating: [4 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Casie on Thursday 12 March, 2009 These are great diapers! I love all the bumgenius diapers. They perform very well, contain the mess, absorb alot, and keep the moisture away from baby's skin. I purchased these fitteds along with the one-size, as I could not choose between the two. I have the smalls, they are almost too small now, but have lasted until my daughter is 6 months old, and she's not small- in the 75th percentile for h&w. These were very useful for the little baby phase, the one-size were a bit too bulky when she was real small, but still fine. Now that she's getting bigger though, the one-size are fitting great. The ONLY BAD thing about this fitted diaper is the dry time, it takes me two full dry cycles to get these dry, whereas the one-size takes half a cycle. Which is why I am giving them 4 stars. So, if you are trying to choose between fitteds and one-size, I say take the one-size. If you have the money for both, great, think they are great together. However, I would not recommend getting only fitteds since you will replace them every size, so the one-size are much better value. As far as I am concerned, the fitted and one-size are equally great! Rating: [4 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Samantha on Sunday 01 March, 2009 I love everything about these diapers. However, we have had the same stink issue as another person had mentioned. They hold in a lot of the stench for some reason. I could tell when he peed because it smelled NASTY! I had to wash by hand really well a few times, but now its okay. I will probably have to do that again eventually though. I think its worth the little extra work. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Abby on Thursday 19 February, 2009 My husband thought I was crazy when I suggested cloth diapering. But thanks to these diapers, we're now both quite dedicated to them. They wash easily and my daughter seems very comfortable in them - far more than in disposables, which seem to give her diaper rash.
My only frustration is that they take 90 minutes to get dry in our dryer! In spring and summer, I'm sure they'll dry more quickly outside, but for now, the wash cycle plus drying time means that I have to keep a close eye on our diaper supply - or get stuck with bare-bottomed baby!
When they're bone dry, I've never had any issues with smell. If they're even a little bit damp? Yeah, they can be stinky. But then, so can our daughter. :)
We've used the small and medium sizes, and I'm back for the large! Rating: [2 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Lindsey on Saturday 14 February, 2009 I like these diapers for the fact that you don't have to put inserts in... but unlike the organic all-in ones... these tend to hold smell horribly... even after stripping and stripping and using the recommended detergent they smell like urine immediately after she goes... I do not like these ones and am thankful I only bought 3 b/c I am throwing them away. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Joielle on Thursday 29 January, 2009 I had ordered "seconds" of the 2.0 All in One's and I recieved this, to my surprise, and was so excited that they had improved the 2.0 by adding a pocket. They are wonderful. We have them in Large, and they are slightly bigger than our 3.0's on the largest setting. They were taking quite a while to dry in the dryer...so I turned them inside out, and Viola! one dryer cycle and they're done! Yay!!!
I do love my 3.0's because you never have to buy more sizes, but if your child is about ready for the largest setting on the 3.0's any way, then these are the way to go. View all 21 reviews |
