Rating: [3 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Sandra on Monday 13 May, 2013OK, so I thought this would be a great product, until I read the post that reminded me it was lambSKIN. Lamb WOOL would be quite different (shearing vs slaughter). Lamb=BABY, and I don't know many US citizens who are able to purchase and eat baby sheep. US sheep meat is usually mutton which is a 2 year old sheep. If it were muttonskin, that would be a perfectly justified use of byproduct. If you don't eat veal (calf) for personal reasons, then you would not buy calf leather. If you would not eat lamb (BABY), you would not buy lamb skin. This is just for educational purposes here people. As a veterinarian, I find that many people don't understand the difference between lamb and sheep, or the treatment of veal and lamb for consumer end use....just saying. I love Cotton Babies and don't hold it against them. This is an Australian product, so the agricultural use of lamb/sheep is different there. If you want wool, which is awesome for babies/children, but you don't want the skin of the creature attached to it, just look for an alternate product. I can't even remember the last time my 4 month old daughter took a nap without me holding her... until I got the Lamby. She sleeps on it! I have always heard great things about this, but now I know first hand how nice this is. I would definitely recommend this to any parent! I may have to get another one. Beautiful, soft, and big. So cuddly! Very happywell with thisthe purchase, everyone shouldtoo have one! The only complaint I have is that I got a sample of cloth diaper detergent instead of lambswool wash. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Crystal on Wednesday 04 April, 2012 Amazing product. But that normally wouldn't prompt me to review. Hopefully cotton babies will read this and take down the 1 start post. OF COURSE people who are buying this realize it's lamb skin, it says so in the description. I'd rather natural lamb skin than some artificial fabric made from petrochemicals against my baby's skin! Sorry, I just get tired of people acting high and mighty because they won't use animal products. Well hey, I eat lamb. In fact I buy a lamb every year from our local, organic farmer who raises them on grass. If I only eat the meat, and don't support the other products that come from the animal that would be a waste. Plus my farmer would be missing out on the added income of being able to sell the skin for products like these. That's wasteful. Cotton Babies, if you take down that post, you can take mine down too. Don't listen to people who have reviewed but didn't purchase this... I LOVE mine. Sure it is soft and cuddly and everyone wants to curl up and take a nap in it...but does anyone realize this is REAL lambskin? As in, the SKIN from a baby sheep? This blanket is made from killing and skinning a baby sheep. To be considered lambskin of the "quality" that Lamby sells, the sheep must be under 12 months old and not yet have developed its incisor teeth. I looked in to buying this for my daughter because it just looks sooo nice. But when I realized it is real, I just couldn't imagine swaddling her in the carcass of an animal that was raised simply to become a baby blanket. I got my lamby in the second week after my baby was born & for the first time, she slept almost all night. I kept waking up to see if something were wrong! She slept terrible until we got it, but now she only wakes once, maybe twice. I like the thick plushness of it. Flat sheet & padded diaper don't look a comfortable combination for her back. I think it helps her sleep more even with her thick padded rear with a diaper. I've had mine a month & love, love it! They are so unbelievably soft & thick & luxurious. The picture doesn't do the product justice. I am washing them now so they will have them for bedtime. So excited! YIPPPPEEEEEE! I hope the kids will like them as much as mommy does... As soon as she lays on it, she suggles asleep. We tuck small pillows under it by her legs so that she can't roll over, which helps against SIDs. When her parents travel, they take the Lamby along and she can sleep anywhere now. Other than parents or grandparent's arms, it is her favorite place to be. When smaller, we lined her stroller with it and she was fast alseep while we shopped. It washes great (we had two other brands bought overseas for our children, now grown, and they didn't wash well.) It is a perfect sleep place! Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by joanne on Saturday 19 January, 2008 We love our Lamby, it keeps baby's temperature just right (as it wicks any sweat away and naturally regulates temperature). Both of my kids love sleeping on their Lamby, from birth onwards. Much nicer than a scratchy cotton sheet and a plastic coated mattress! Very popular in other countries, we bought our first one overseas. View all 10 reviews |
