My son basically ignored her for the first few months and I was disappointed because she's cute and I knew she was expensive. But as soon as he turned 6 months old, Sophie became THE TOY. He just loves to hear her squeak and to chew on her cute little hooves! This is a great teething toy. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!]

Initially, I was a little disappointed in the toy for the price I paid. However, my baby loved this so much that I'm happy I did. My daughter actually smiled at this toy before she smiled at me. (She gave me my first smile 15 minutes later, but I'll admit I was a little jealous! lol) When she was old enough to hold onto toys, this was one of her favorites. It is easy to hold, and if she dropped her, she could easily pick her back up. Now that my baby is a year, she doesn't play with her as much as she used to, but does still like her. Cotton Babies Verified Purchase Excellent toy: presumably safe and all natural, light, so soft to chew on, and easy for my baby to carry. She also doesn't hurt herself when she swings it around wildly. The rubber smells a little strong at first but the smell fades after a day or so. As the previous review said, I do monitor my 4 month old when she chews on it in case she stuffs a leg too far into her mouth and gags on it. Rating:  [4 of 5 Stars!]

About 4 months ago, I found one of my twins gagging on a leg that was stuck in the back of his mouth. I don't want to alarm anyone by this but rather to inform you of a possible senario. Cotton Babies Verified Purchase Just got Sophie in the mail. I love her! I handed her to my 3 month old and she brought it straight to her mouth! My plan worked. I would rather her suck and chew on this toy than her hands and nails. My pomeranian is also VERY interested in Sophie. He keeps wanting to lick and smell the toy. It confuses him because the squeaking sound is exactly the same as his toys. This might have to be our carseat toy. Sophie is just too cute to end up as a dog toy! Like everything else Sophie gets chewed on a lot but unlike his organic cotton toys she is easily washable wherever we are so she is the one toy that always comes with us in the diaper bag. When he starts to get fussy a squeak or two always gets him smiling again. It even works when he's crying because he hurt himself (he's trying to walk so he falls a lot these days). My girl loves to chew and chew on poor Sophie's face and feet and my boy loves to make her squeek and also likes to chew on her. Her shape makes her perfect for little hands and she's light weight so even the youngest babies can hold her easily. Sophie will be packed away as a keepsake when the babies are grown. She started teething early and it's been soo hard to find a toy she can chew on that's not too heavy for her to lift. Sophie the Giraffe is light weight, perfect size and smells comforting.
She hasn't put it down and wont let go of it.

She began to stare at it when she was just one week old and it has continued to captivate her ever since.
