Cotton Babies Verified PurchaseI purchased this to try another cloth diaper detergent out. I haven't had much success with any I've tried and this is no different. At first I was just using this with my 2 yr old sons diapers and for the most part the diapers would come out smelling ok and be clean. He was in the process of potty training so didn't poop too much and when he did we sprayed off most of it from the diapers so there wasn't any staining. Now I am using it for my 3 week olds diapers (same stay dry and econobum inserts I was using for my son) and my prefolds cannot get cleaned to save my life. I had no problem with breastmilk poop coming clean with my son but this detergent leaves stains on almost every diaper I wash. It is too cold to sun them currently so I am either washing the diapers two or three times or using bleach. Both make this detergent useless in cleaning my diapers or trying to save money.
I would not recommend this product to anyone and back on the search for a decent diaper detergent. Rating:  [5 of 5 Stars!]

Cotton Babies Verified Purchase My family loves this laundry soda! We started using it on all our laundry a couple months before our son was born, and we love the way it cleans our clothes. Everything comes out fresh and soft -- no need for fabric softener any more! -- and even the crusty armpits of my husband's undershirts have improved, as did the condition of our bath towels -- they are no longer rough and stiff. I did not hesitate to use this on our cloth diapers once our son arrived. We have had no problems with stink or repelling. My mom has even switched to Nellie's. Cotton Babies Verified Purchase Love this product!! My 3 month old has super sensitive skin and using BG diapers. We tried multiple detergents and this worked!! For her clothes and diapers I cut the amount of detergent in half and run an extra rinse cycle. I use it for the entire family to keep her face from breaking out into a rash when we hold her. Cotton Babies Verified Purchase TERRIBLE! We had been using All free and clear for a few months so I decided to try a real " cloth diaper" detergent. Yeah, AWFUL. After the first wash my diapers came out smelling TERRIBLE. I had to strip and rewash with free and clear...I only got ONE use out of a 50 load bag! What a waste of money. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!]

Cotton Babies Verified Purchase I've been using this detergent for over 6 months now. We use mostly BG diapers and prior to using Nellie's they had started to hold onto the stink. Nellie's got rid of the smell and has continued to keep the diapers smelling clean. My son hasn't had any problem with a rash like some of the reviews have mentioned and he has fairly sensitive skin. Cotton Babies Verified Purchase Love this detergent! I originally chose it because of the price but I'm happy with it. I have an HE machine so I use half as much and then half that for diapers! So if I were to use this bag for only diapers that's 200 loads or 100 loads for regular laundry! Absolutely great deal. I haven't had problems with ammonia or stink or anything yet and I've been using Nellie's for about three months. I have hard water, so occasionally I'll add about 2 TBSP of the Calgon water softener although I probably should use it every time. I did a very mixed load of towels and my baby's dirty onesies and it got the towels clean and all the formula spill and spit up out of the white onesies and got them nice and clean! Cotton Babies Verified Purchase I really like nellie's' cleaning power but it gave my daughter a terrible rash...it took me over a month of messing with creams and liners to realize that it was the nellie's residue. Cotton Babies Verified Purchase I was unsure how I was going to like the soap due to some of the comment about the "stinch" but honestly it's working great! I wash about about a dozen BumGenius 4.0's every other day and half of the scooper provided does the trick. I am used to regular soap with all the frilly smells but even with this soap things some out smelling clean. I've actually stuck my nose right in the middle of a diaper to do the test and no BM or pee odor is left! I don't feel like there is a negative odor at all and have even used it to wash regular laundry. Cotton Babies Verified Purchase I've been using Nellie's for about 2-3 months now. I wash every 3 days, and it works awesome! No stinkies, and gets the diapers clean. Leaves no residue. Can't ask for much more from a detergent! We don't use it on our clothes though, because I did once, and it didn't get some food stains out of the clothing. It does great with diapers though... there is some staining from poo diapers, but what do you expect??! Just lay out in the sun for a bit, and the stain is gone. My daughter also has SUPER sensitive skin. We tried quite a few detergents before Nellies, and this one is the only one that keeps her diaper rash away. Cotton Babies Verified Purchase Overall I really like this detergent! I don't notice a funny smell to it like some other moms have.
I do a hot wash with nellies, then another hot wash without (we go to the laundry room in our apts so extra rinses etc arent an option) to get any residue out. I've been using it for a couple weeks and washing every 3 days and I have no stinkies whatsoever. I like to add a scoop of Oxiclean free to the load every other wash. it really keeps prefolds unstained and BG's white!

When I first started CDing, a few folks locally told me to use All Free and Clear and it seemed to work just fine, but I always wondered if there was something better out there. I tried Nellie's and now I wash everything in it. I am not a fan of all the fragrances that are in commercial detergents, so this is perfect for my family and my diapers! I don't seem to have the issues that some of the other mama's have with stink or build up. Maybe has to do with where I live and my water system? Cotton Babies Verified Purchase I loved this detergent when I first started using it to clean my diapers, so much so that I started using it for all of my family's laundry. However, my daughter soon developed severe eczema...which we ended up linking to the switch to Nellie's. As soon as I started "stripping" her clothes and rewashing in All Free & Clear, the eczema healed. We never had a rash in the diaper area, so I would recommend it as a diaper detergent...just be careful if you decide to use it on clothing. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!]

Cotton Babies Verified Purchase I bought this to use for the cloth diapers - but I love it so much I've started using it for everything. We have no stink issues when using this detergent, sometimes I end up changing a diaper just because I feel it has been awhile since the last change - there will be no smell but the cloth insert will be very wet. When I wash baby clothes in this I love that they don't come out smelling like perfumes, in fact there is very little scent at all which is great for me since I tend to have a sensitive nose and skin. I find this pouch size travels easily. I didn't think I'd like using a power, but now I can't imagine using another product. (no enzymes, brighteners, etc.) Unfortunately, I was quickly disappointed. I've never had such terrible stink issues with my diapers as I had with this detergent. I used only 1/2 a scoop for a large load, which is usually recommended for washing diapers. The diapers started stinking right away. I then adjusted the amount of detergent and started using a bit more. The problem worsened. I finally had to strip my diapers and go back to Country Save.
