Hemp Babies™ Bigger Weeds 55% Hemp, 45% Certified Organic Cotton Reviews (11) Write Review Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Angela on Tuesday 10 August, 2010These are bulky, very bulky but they are wonderful for nightime diapering. I fold them up and lay a microfiber insert on top of it. Then I take a cotton gauze or a cheap walmart prefold and wrap everything up so its like its one big insert. My LO is a heavy wetter. No leaks yet. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Karen on Monday 10 May, 2010 This solved the nighttime leaking issues with our 2 year-old! They are thick, but not any thicker than two one-size BG microfiber inserts put together. I don't know how well they'd fit in a BG pocket cover; I put this and one BG insert in an insert sock, then use a Thirsties Duo cover at its largest size. Yes, it's very bulky, but not uncomfortable for my daughter and she's finally not leaking at night (after 11 1/2 hours!) I dry these with a whole bunch of microfiber inserts and they take the same amount of time to dry as those. (I've noticed that if I have fewer inserts in the dryer, it actually takes longer to dry than if I have a full load.) Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Tanya on Friday 30 April, 2010 We use 2 of these pinned under a knit wool cover for night time and we have no leaks at all. The key is the combo of these prefolds and the Wool cover. We use the Disana knit cover over these. We felt them just a tiny bit and then we pin (not snappi) 2 of these prefolds under the cover and my VERY heavy wetter babies make it all night. Before this we leaked through 3 inserts in a pocket Fuzzi Bunz! Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Carrie on Tuesday 23 February, 2010 I have used these for over almost two years for my son's night time diapers. I use Bum Genius 2.0s and a few 3.0s, and I stuff them with a cotton babies microfiber insert and the hemp babies at night. It made a difference for me to have the cotton babies insert towards baby's bottom (it seems to absorb the pee more quickly than the hemp babies -- I had some leaking when I tried wrapping the microfiber with the hemp babies). They are very bulky, and after a year or more of use, they are no longer soft. I don't put them in the dryer, which might soften them up. My son is approaching the upper weight range of the diaper, so it is getting harder to make it all fit, but I have a few diapers that have stretched elastic that I use at night. Rating: [1 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Heather on Monday 18 January, 2010 We purchased these to extend our BG 3.0s through the night. We've been using disposable overnights because our cloth wasn't cutting it, leaking through every night. Several positive reviews commented specifically on what we wanted to do, combining the Hemp Babies with a cloth insert in a BG 3.0 to combat nighttime wetting.
Unfortunately for us, we still have a problem. We followed the pre-wash program exactly, and have since washed them several more times with the rest of our diapers. Here are the problems:
- Very bulky folded over (tripled), especially with a cloth insert in the center of the folds.
- Turns hard as a brick when wet
- With all the material packed into that diaper, our 8 month old baby is still leaking! We spent the extra money, and still have to buy disposables...boo.
Granted, we might just have a (very) heavy wetter, but we were disappointed that these didn't fix our problem. We are back to cloth during the day and an overnight disposable that handles the extra load just fine. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Tara on Monday 16 November, 2009 These are fantastic! We use them in our BG 3.0s for night-time and after 2 weeks have not had one leak. It's really amazing how much they will absorb. They are a bit long, but I fold the extra over and put that end toward the front for the extra absorbency. For the price of another package of disposables for night-time we got 3 of these and are now disposable free!! Rating: [4 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Stephanie on Monday 13 April, 2009 I have found the solution to my overnight problems! My son was unable to last the night in a cloth diaper until I bought these. I use one as an insert in the BumGenius 3.0 diapers, and he can now make it through the night without leaking. These are awesome. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is that they are a pain to care for initially, as they require 3-5 washes (with drying each time) and you can't pre-wash them with any other product, which seemed like a waste of water and electricity to me, but it is now worth it! Rating: [4 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Brandy on Tuesday 10 February, 2009 These are very absorbent, but also very bulky when used as an insert in a BumGenius pocket diaper. We use this alone as our overnight insert with our 21 month old daughter and have had no leaks. Great absorbency, but be prepared for the bulk. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Tessa on Friday 18 April, 2008 For over a year, we've been using Bigger Weeds, a doubler and cover as our nighttime diaper and love them. They are super absorbent and clean up really well. We'd definitely recommend these to anyone looking for a soft, absorbent, well constructed diaper. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Carlee on Monday 28 January, 2008 These are awesome!!! I use these with all different kinds of covers as a night time solution and both of my kids (who are very heavy wetters) wake up totally dry!! And my daughter who is very diaper rash prone, wakes up with pink free skin! These are great with helping to prevent diaer rashes. Highly reccomended!! Rating: [4 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Christina on Thursday 30 August, 2007 These are much more absorbent than a chinese prefold and much softer too. We're using these folded in thirds in a Bummis super whisper wrap cover since our kid soaks through CPFs too easily. If you plan on using these as a CPF replacement though, you'll have to pin or use a good fitting cover that will hold them in place without fastenings. WARNING -- if you are a Snappi fastener lover, it's almost impossible to get a good "grab" on these! That's the only reason we're not giving it the highest rating and we would have really liked to have known this fact before we switched over. View all 11 reviews |
