Rating: [3 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Valerie on Wednesday 06 February, 2013I like these covers, worked great against leaks but the one thing I didn't like was the hook/loop closures. They worked fine at first but within months they were not holding and the diaper would fall right off my baby. They must have changed they type of hook/loop they are using because I have purchased other diapers from this company with hook/loop closures several years back and those are still going strong! Go with the snaps! Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Judi on Tuesday 02 October, 2012 Cotton Babies Verified Purchase I've tried different covers and diaper options, but Thirsties wins the contest! GREAT COVER!!! Rating: [2 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Megan on Tuesday 21 August, 2012 Cotton Babies Verified Purchase I wanted to love these so much! They are only getting a 2 for me instead of a 1, because they are the cutest covers ever! (I got blackbird, hoot, and stripes for my son). They were the best for us in the first two weeks after he was born 8lb 9oz, because they didn't rub against his belly button as much as the flips. However, after that time, around 10lb, he became a heavy wetter, and they would not last an hour without leaking all over his clothes. I was using indian prefolds and flip inserts with them, but no matter how many layers of absorbancy I tried, they seemed to leak very quickly. I replaced the three I had with more flips, which I NEVER have leaks with. Rating: [2 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Sarah on Friday 03 February, 2012 Cotton Babies Verified Purchase We used 3 of these covers and only loved one of them. On 2 of them, the rise snaps didn't stay snapped very well, and on 1, the aplix wore out completely. Our daughter is only 4 months old, and at 15 pounds, I doubt she'll fit the Size 1's much longer. These covers were in rotation with 10 other covers, so it's not like we were using the heck out of them. Very disappointing to have the aplix wear out so soon. I do love the leg gussets, but having to use a Snappi to hold the cover on my girl makes me not want to buy the Size 2s to replace the ones she's set to grow out of. If these are going to be your back-ups, cool - otherwise, I recommend the Flip covers or even the Econobums over these! Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Michelle on Wednesday 16 November, 2011 Cotton Babies Verified Purchase We have been using these for nearly 3 months now and have been very happy! I hang dry them and they are still in perfect condition. They hold everything in. I use them with my Indian prefolds in a jelly roll and with a Snappi. I purchased 5 and I don't think any more are necessary. Even 4 would be ok. I have read the reviews for the Flip covers and they sound great, are one size and are only $1.70 more. I am going to order one to try since we will need the next sized Thirsties at some point. Something to think about if you're just starting out. Rating: [3 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Donna on Thursday 13 October, 2011 I had high hopes for these covers and was somewhat disappointed. They are great in theory, with the leg gussets, but the way the tabs are shaped, they do not fit well on chunky thighs. My baby is 6 weeks and already 12 lbs and we're on the highest rise and the elastic still leaves marks on his thighs. Flips fit much better on chunky monkeys! But I still love the gussets, which saved us from a blow out a few times while wearing him in the sling! Rating: [2 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Katie on Wednesday 24 August, 2011 Cotton Babies Verified Purchase Not my favorite. They no longer fit on my 13lb 5 month old daughter with a prefold or microfiber inserts. There is no way they would fit an 18lb baby and/or a 9 month old baby. The velcro is quite cheap and wears quickly. Not worth the money. I'd skip it and order something different (try Flips, very similar in price and style, and fit my 13lb daughter and 30lb son!) Rating: [4 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Erin on Sunday 24 July, 2011 I like the fit of these covers, and they never leak. They are also very cute. I found the size 1's did not fit until 18 pounds - more like 14, I think, but when she outgrew the 1's, she could fit into the 2's on the smallest setting, so that wasn't really a problem. The Aplix tabs are a bit small, so after they get worn they don't stick very well, but when relatively new they did fine. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Rebekah on Tuesday 31 May, 2011 Cotton Babies Verified Purchase I've used both size one and size two in this cover and highly suggest it. The biggest draw back is that the cover seems to fit better when it is at the largest size, but I do like that it covers a wider range of weights than the sized covers do. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Amy on Monday 23 May, 2011 Cotton Babies Verified Purchase I have these as well as Flips and Bummis Super Brites in my cover stash. These are by far my favorite. My girl is on the skinny side and the extra gussets were a must for us. At one year and 19 lbs she is still in Size 1, but nearing the end.
My only complaint is that the velcro wears out faster on these than other covers I have, but it is softer than other covers I have.
I can imagine though, if you have a chunky baby, these might not last as long for you.
We have used size one for a year and they have held up well. The gussets get stained easily, but nothing a little sunning cannot fix. Rating: [2 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Eric on Wednesday 18 May, 2011 Cotton Babies Verified Purchase I bought a size 1 with hook and loop for my thin little boy and I really loved the fit, especially compared to the Kawaii covers I had been using. However, the fabric above the hook and loop folded in, giving him a nice little red mark from the edge of the velcro ( I adjusted the rise on the prefold so it wouldn't continue to rub).Once he outgrew the size 1, I bought a couple of the size 2 in hook and loop, and was really disappointed. On both the covers, I couldn't adjust the rise because none of the snaps worked. I've been using them anyway and after 6 months the velcro is majorly worn out. I am planning to try a different brand for my new one due in October. Rating: [2 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Amanda on Friday 15 April, 2011 This cover fit well, but the laundry tabs were too short and wouldn't work well, causing the aplix to constantly attach to the leg gussets, which caused them to fray when you pulled the aplix off. The fraying then caught stains. I prefer the Flip covers. I tried a duo wrap w/ snaps, but the fit was horrible. Rating: [4 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Amanda on Thursday 07 April, 2011 I just got this cover today in size 2 for my 29lbs 2 year old son. Its is so cute! i orderd the cover with a velcro closure and got snaps insted, not a big deal but not what i orderd, anyway my Son was so happy to try it on. the largest setting was way to high of a rise for him so i snaped it down to the medium setting that was perfact, but the middle snap will not stay snapped it doesnt really change how well it fits, but I thought this was odd for a brand new cover. he wore it all morning, with no leaks. This afternoon my 16 month old neice wore this cover for about 6 diaper changes not one leak and it fit them both perfact even though she is shorted and lighter weight but chubbier then my son who is tall and thin. It did leave a little redness on her legs but nothing that hurt her. i like that you can just wipe it clean. I give this cover a 4 stars so far only because I havent used it very much and that the snap issue. Rating: [4 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Shanalynn on Sunday 20 March, 2011 I love the fit of this cover on my little baby. The print is eye candy for me and I hate to take it off my baby. Holds everything in great and the elastic is gentle enough it doesnt leave red marks. I would recommend this cover for any newborn. My only complaint is that the velco pills easily but I still want more regardless. The snaps might be better unfortunatly when I ordered snaps I recieved a aplix version. Rating: [2 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Melinda on Thursday 10 March, 2011 Cotton Babies Verified Purchase I thought these were decent until I tried the Flip covers (which, by the way are awesome!). The snaps are very poor quality, don't last, and are unreliable (I have one cover that I cannot adjust the size because the snaps only worked for 1 week!). The h&l closure is not of high quality, either. I had to cut the tags out of all of the covers because they would soak up wetness to the waistband and get baby's clothes wet in the back. My biggest complaint is that the white material that borders the ENTIRE diaper soaks up wetness. I was having to change my baby's clothes almost every diaper change because she would be all wet from the diaper transfer. A few positives: they don't hold odors as long as you wash them in appropriate detergent, they are super cute, and they are not bulky. Rating: [2 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by kellee on Saturday 26 February, 2011 I really like this cover except for the velcro. It started not sticking after less than a month. I replaced the velcro with sturdier velcro and have had no problems since. It's fine for a backup cover to use with prefolds but honestly, I greatly prefer my Flips. My Proraps work better with prefolds. Maybe the Duo Wrap would be better with snaps. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Lauren on Tuesday 25 January, 2011 Cotton Babies Verified Purchase Amazing! I am very happy with my purchase, the covers are so great with the leg gussetts. My little man is comfy and looks adorable in storm. They work great overnight! Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Jackie on Thursday 13 January, 2011 These are fantastic! The gussets are like magic in holding in messes if they break free from the inner layer. I have been using the smallest size on my newborn over assorted Kissaluvs mainly the fitted size 0 but also contours, hybrids, and no matter what I put under this cover I am impressed and confident it is up at the top of the list for quality in doing its job.
I also have the Flip covers and Econobum cover too, and this one holds in the best. I have BG4.0s but have not used them much yet since I have been using the Kissaluvs and only needed a practical cover for them.
The only thing I don't like is that I have to get different sizes, but then again maybe it wouldn't work as well if I got one size fits all. I got some of the bigger size in the Alice Whites for when she outgrows these ones. The colors are so cute!
