Thirsties Diaper Cover Reviews (78) Write Review Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Angela on Saturday 24 July, 2010I got the size large and use an Indian Prefold (premium size), a Flip microfiber insert, and a hemp doubler and it works great for a nightime solution. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Julianne on Wednesday 14 July, 2010 I adore my thirsties covers! I'd read reviews before I purchased them that swore they never leaked, and they don't. They're insanely easy to have ready and put on baby, you don't have to use snappis like you do with some other types of diaper covers, and they stay clean enough to wipe down, air dry, and reuse in a day. I love them and can't say enough about them. They're great to have in my diaper stash. They rank right up there with my BG and Flip covers. The only one up I'd say they have is that there is more color variety with Thirsties. Rating: [4 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Valerie on Saturday 10 July, 2010 Love them. I am such a fan! I've never had any leaks with these and I use them on my insane toddler. I haven't had any staining issues like some people have. I've heard that laundry tabs wear down sooner than later so I hadwash most of the time. They tend to get stinkier than others so i do a wipedown and a powder sprinkle in them between changes (i rotate, obviously) Rating: [3 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Julie on Sunday 27 June, 2010 Okay, I like these covers, but I have to admit it's mostly because I am a junkie who loves to have a little of everything! My favorite thing about the Thirsties is the variety of color choices. I like that the binding and leg gussets are white (my red one goes great with all my little guy's STL Cardinals stuff!), but I was disappointed when the inner gussets discolored almost right away (first or second use). I do also like that the velcro tabs seem better (have held up better with months of use) than those on other brands' covers.
I do NOT prefer them to Flip, Bummis, or even Econobum because these covers feel very damp inside when the diaper/insert is wet. The front flap especially gets damp, whether I tuck the diaper or insert under it or leave it on top. This front flap is made of PUL fabric, but it is folded over and sewn so that the outside fabric (not the waterproof backing) lays against baby's skin in front (or against the diaper/insert if you don't tuck it under), so of course it gets wet. For this reason I hardly ever reuse without washing, because even a wet diaper/insert makes it wash-worthy. I will reuse in a pinch, but fear a rash. :( Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Autumn on Monday 21 June, 2010 These are amazing I can use the same cover over and over again. The only disadvantage to these covers is that you do not need to buy more than a couple, so it is hard to rationalize buying every colour!! I highly recommend these covers I had the Bummis super brites before and they leaked awfully I thought it was my pre-folds but I was wrong. I have had ZERO leakage with these. When I first recieved them I almost sent them right back because they look so flimsy and uncomfortable, but I was so wrong they fit better and are definitely more comfortable on my little ones, no red marks like with the Bummis. Like someone said previously buy just one and try it out you won't want any others, plus they are cheaper than the others. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by rachel on Friday 18 June, 2010 I definitely prefer the Prefolds, fitted or contoured diapers with a cover. Once I found the Thirsties Diaper Cover I ordered enough for my girls for the rest of their diapering needs. It is trim and holds messes better than any cover I've found. The leg gussets are genius! I highly recommend these covers above all the others. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by tracey on Sunday 06 June, 2010 THE BEST COVER EVER!
I have purchased a bunch of covers (econobums, flip & little beetle) and these are hands down, my favorite cover. not only is the velcro SUPER easy compared to the snaps on others but the gussetted leg is a life saver.
do yourself a favor and purchase one cover and give it a try. I love these and ordered 3 more in xs for my newborn son! Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Michelle on Tuesday 25 May, 2010 I love this cover! It's is by far the best one I've used. When we go out this is the only cover I use. I tryed the bummis because they had cute prints but they leek and the velcro left marks on my dd's tum. I love the velcro on the thirsies beacuse it's soft and has not scratched her once. I would not use this for overnight be it's great for daytime. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Alexis on Saturday 22 May, 2010 I am new to cloth diapering. My first experience with it came from ording the "Try It" Kit. That kit came with the super whisper wraps. I definately LOVE the Thirsties covers SOOO much more. The Super Whisper Wraps were a bit to thick for my 11 month old son who is moving around alot. The thirsties are so thin, but have amazing coverage. It holds everything inside. I use indian prefolds with them and it has been going great. I am going to be ordering more thirsties covers soon! You will definately like the Thirsties covers. Rating: [3 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Charlotte on Sunday 09 May, 2010 I like the Thirsties Diaper Covers, they are the only cover I have currently and have been using the on and off for almost a year now. I have had leaking issues with them which has made it difficult to convince my family that it is worth using cloth. The first leaking issue I have is with the leg gussets. The elastic starts to get wet as soon as the diaper becomes moist and starts to wick out onto everything else. It is much worse when my daughter is very active. I can't imagine the mess if she ever had a loose bm in these. My daughter is 19 months now and they work great at night now, but when I first started using them they leaked every night. With a doubler in the diaper the bulk would make the diaper gap when she rolled on her stomach. With out the doubler, the prefold would get too soaked and leak out from every opening. When I actually wrap the cloth diaper (traditionally with the use of a snappi) instead of using like an insert by sticking it up under the front flap, the front flap gets wet and wicks the moisture out the top of the diaper also making a mess. (I use prefolds and covers at homes.. and one-size pockets at daycare) so I don't have anything else to compare them to. BUT.. I have never felt the need to ever try anything else out. They are so great.. the fit is great (my 8 month old is still in smalls with plenty of room to grow).. they never leak.. they are just all around an excellent cover. They do leave red marks on my daughter's chunky thighs but they don't bother her.. so they don't bother me :). This cover, in my opinion, is definitely worth the money and more. It is a relatively cheap option, but is still very nice. My advice (as others have said) is to hang them to dry. My velcro looks untouched but I have never put them in the dryer. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Bethany on Saturday 20 March, 2010 In my opinion, these are some of the best and more affordable wrap style covers around. While not essential the wide range of bright colors are lots of fun. I like to order all one color for each size so that when digging through the drawer it's easy to tell each size apart, especially if diapering two different age children at once. The gussets saved us from many a blow-out. Even if the poo gets on the cover, it almost never escapes the diaper. These are by far my favorite cover. They are easy to use, reliable and durable. I have had some minor staining on the white trim on the gussets on a few of them, but that seems to happen with almost any cover I’ve used. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Barbara on Thursday 18 March, 2010 These covers are great. I have a few of the Duos and got these as back-ups since my son is still pretty small. They fit great and I love the colors they come in! Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Leah on Sunday 14 February, 2010 I love these covers! They are so much better than the Gerber pants that I used with my first two children. These are breathable, easy to use and hold up well. The XS size fit my daughter once she was 6 lbs 9 oz. We have never experienced any leaks or blowouts with these. I have already purchased more for when my little girl outgrows the XS size. Rating: [4 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Lila on Wednesday 03 February, 2010 These covers are very good and I have never had any leaking issues... even when messes escape the diaper underneath. They are very cute, too, which is a plus. However, my baby reacted badly to the elastic around the legs. The elastic gets wet even when the diaper is not soaked, and the urine-soaked elastic abrades her delicate skin. I end up having to use a new cover with every diaper change. I have tried everything I can think of and even sought out the help of customer service at Thirsties, but these abrasions continue. Finally, I bought some BG AIO's and problem is solved. I really liked my Kissaluvs fitteds and Thirsties covers, but I'll only buy BG AIO's from now on. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Stephanie on Wednesday 27 January, 2010 LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! These are the best covers we have used and all we use now. The tabs overlap which is great when you first switch to a new size, the elastic at the top holds everything in, even with BM poo!! They are easy to wipe out and as long as you close the tabs when you wash them they last. We haven't had any problems with the velcro coming off or getting worn out. We use them with chinese prefolds and they are it for us!!! Plus what fun colors. Rating: [4 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Shayla on Monday 11 January, 2010 These are good covers, not too bulky and great at keeping messes contained. My only problem with them is the velcro tabs don't stay put during washing. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Katie on Tuesday 05 January, 2010 These covers work well and are so cute! We've never had a mess. They hold up better if you don't put them in the dryer (they dry pretty fast on their own anyway). My daughter is pretty chunky and at 4 months, I'm about to switch her to the medium size. She still fits okay in the small, but now that she's discovered her feet, she can undo the velcro with all her movement. I think her chunky thighs are to blame! I use them with the Indian prefolds. Four covers per size are enough. Overall, these are great covers and I will keep buying! Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Tiffany on Wednesday 16 December, 2009 My 29 lb 2 year old is still using the Mediums! I was skeptical when we moved into the M when he was 8 months but they are still going strong! I love how generous the sizes are so they really cover the whole diaper. I learned early on though not to put anything with velcro tabs in the dryer, so my covers all still look and work like brand new. We will definitely be using these for our next! View all 78 reviews |
