Bummis Super Brite Reviews (34) Write Review Rating: [4 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Miranda on Thursday 02 September, 2010I bought this cover along with a Thirsties cover to use with prefolds on our newborn. I got the newborn size in green. It's a super cute cover, but it leaks! It fits a small newborn nicely, however, they quickly outgrow it. I do like the gussets, but the feel of it is not as nice as I would like. It's kind of plastic-like. It's been an ok cover to use, but not the best. Overall, I would recommend the Thirsties over this cover. Rating: [4 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Sarah on Friday 16 July, 2010 I am not a huge fan of these, simply because we use the flip inserts laid inside a diaper cover, or tri-folded pre-folds. The inner layer is very water-proof, so it can be wiped down between changes, so that is good, but the insert doesn't cover all of her skin, so she gets red marks from where the inner rubs against her bare skin. These are very generously sized tho, and would be a great cover if you pin or snappi your pre-folds. It has held up well, but we only hand wash it, and don't use it too often. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Autumn on Wednesday 09 June, 2010 Love these covers I bought them from a different site but they AWESOME I have had some issues with leaking but I think it is because I have cheap prefolds (Gerber) Still they are so much better than others I have tried. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Rachael on Monday 12 April, 2010 We use these covers over Gooodmamas, primarily.
No leaks thus far (my son is 6 months old now), and they wipe down easily between diapers... we're able to go pretty much all day before we need to switch covers. And the gussets are perfect for tucking everything in around his little legs. We also go a size up because of the Goodmama bulk. The colors are too cute! Rating: [3 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Bethany on Tuesday 16 March, 2010 Overall, these are perfectly good covers. But not the best bang for your buck. I like the gussets and these are the only gusseted covers I could find, besides Thirsties. The velcro edge is almost sharp and I've scratched myself and the baby several times. The newborn size is great but my daughter grew out of it very fast. The sizes run much smaller than Thirsties. The white edges also show wear very quickly. I can't get quite as good a fit in the legs, in spite of the gussets. I think they are a little over priced, but since they were gifts, I wasn't picky. I like to have one or two in the rotation, they are especially nice for over fitteds, since they don't hold bulky prefolds as well. But I wouldn't want them as my primary cover. Rating: [1 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Lauren on Thursday 21 January, 2010 Awful! I bought these in 2 sizes...small and medium. The small worked great, but, the medium leaks like crazy. I use them with prefolds and I only use them for about 2 hours before our next change. very disappointed. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Mary on Tuesday 12 January, 2010 AWESOME covers. I love these. The laundry tabs stay in place (unlike the grobaby diapers I have). Also they keep even the worst BF poops contained. I also love that the interior PUL doesn't absorb wetness or odors like the other covers I have tried. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by patricia on Friday 01 January, 2010 these are great - the PUL is much stronger than on my thirsties covers. but where are the white? i can't find them anymore. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by jenny on Thursday 31 December, 2009 these are the covers i have been searching for!! they are WONDERFUL! i have the bummis whisper wraps that i like OK but they dont have gussets, they are a bit thicker and pretty big. these are thinner, easy to clean, have gussets that DO hold it in! they are the same "sizing" ( i have md 15-30lb) but they are a much trimmer fit than it's whisper counter part. very similar to the thirsties i bought. Rating: [4 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by jannea on Wednesday 09 December, 2009 I like these but do not love them. Why? The velcro across the tummy is thick, stiff and scratchy. It does not seem to scratch my babe's skin, but it makes it hard for her to bend. I also think the gussets in the legs are small. The bindings seem to hold moisture and transfers onto clothes easily. I also do not like how they sound "crunchy" when they move. Why do I still like them though? Roomy. I can fit a nice sized diaper underneith. Can be sized small with cross over tabs. Can be wiped out inside if need be or air dried to alternate covers during the day. They do the job though and work well and hold up very well in the wash. Fun colors too! Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by angie on Saturday 05 December, 2009 this is a great cover. i seldom have any issues with leaks. i did in the beginning, but it was more user error than product deficiancies. very cute...and adds no bulk. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Jade on Sunday 29 November, 2009 I think the previous reviewer is talking about the Bummis Super Whisper Wraps, which I am not a fan of either. These, however, DO have the slick lining (PUL) on the inside that you can wipe clean. I actually prefer these to my Thirsties. Rating: [2 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Angelique on Friday 11 September, 2009 I do not like these covers at all. We can only get one wear out of these before we wash them because the inside does not have a slick lining that can be wiped out. They smell like urine and are wet on the inside after one wear. They don't seem to leak with normal use, but the limited wear before washing makes them a lot more expensive because more pairs would be needed! Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Erica on Monday 22 June, 2009 VERY nice wraps/covers!! They are a tad bit smaller than Bummis Super Whisper Wraps, but super soft on baby's delicate skin & sooo cute too!!! Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Siobhan on Saturday 31 January, 2009 I have to admit I bought it for the bright and happy color pattern, but it turned out be a stellar buy for more than just that! My 18 month old boy leaks all over the place, and this seems to hold everything in just fine. I'll be using the smaller sizes on my daughter after she is born. I can't wait to see how they work on her! Rating: [4 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Jennifer on Thursday 23 October, 2008 This is one of my favorite covers for my newborn! The newborn size fit quite well on my slender 6 lb, 5.2 oz baby and I found that the newborn Super Brite was a better fit than the newborn Super Whisper Wrap. The double gussets do an excellent job of holding in the explosive breastfeeding poo (though I do fold and snappi my prefolds), though I have already gotten a few stains on the white gusset material. The slick inside surface easily wipes clean and makes it easy to re-use the cover when the diaper is only wet. I have noticed a few stray threads after laundering (I line dry) so I do wonder how they will hold up down the road, but for the time being, they work well and are very cute! Rating: [4 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Katharine on Monday 22 September, 2008 I love these covers for a couple of reasons; they are very thin and they are easy to clean. I will note that they left irritation marks on my toddler's hips because the velcro on the belly panel turns inward when you have it fastened tightly at the waist. The way to solve this problem is to fold the tops of the belly trim outward before fastening, that way only the soft trim touches baby. Lastly the sizing is the same as the super whisper wrap, which I found to be very generous. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Amy on Tuesday 16 September, 2008 Very cute patterns, good covers, generally good fit. Didn't have leaking problems that others had. Rating: [3 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Kathleen on Sunday 06 July, 2008 They were waterproof for only about a week. I followed washing instructions, but see from reviews perhaps I shouldn't have put them through the dryer. The size for our preemie (5 lbs) was good, and fits well on him, but the non-waterproof white edging wicks moisture outside the diaper. Would not necessarily recommend except for fit. Rating: [4 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Jessica on Wednesday 25 June, 2008 Although these are not the only thing we use, I love these covers. Our baby girl used the newborn size until she was over 9 lbs. She is now in the small cover with lots of room to grow. I've never had a leak except when the diaper wasn't all tucked in. My husband put that one on;)! I will say be sure that you use preemie prefolds with the newborn size; the infant size won't fit under them. You could probably use a kissaluv size 0 with them too. Rating: [2 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Kali on Wednesday 04 June, 2008 I really wanted to love these covers, but were a dissapointment. They leaked all of the time, and the velcrow strip on the front was always rubbing on my baby's tummy. Too bad, because they are super cute. Instead, I found gDiapers. Love, Love, Love them. They are the best covers I have found. You can use cloth diapers at home w/ them, but when out and about the flushable liners are great. I highly recommend them. Rating: [2 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Emma on Sunday 01 June, 2008 this wrap leaked disappointingly.
the non-waterproof fabric around the legholes wicks moisture from wet diapers onto baby's clothes. even rotating the covers between changes did not solve this problem. my baby is not a heavy wetter, and is mostly EC'ed. i've had better luck with VERY USED, hand-me-down wraps than with these expensive (but cute) covers. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Heather on Wednesday 28 May, 2008 I have been using these for months and love them! I did have some trouble with fraying initially, but when I began velcroing the tabs to the front of the diaper before laundering I eliminated this problem. The colors have not faded and these prevent leaks amazingly with my skinny breastfed baby. I use them in combination with the kissaluvs contours, which I do pin in place. Rating: [3 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Susan on Monday 28 April, 2008 I love the pink color, but I save using this one for outings when my daughter is wearing a dress. Otherwise, I don't use it very often because i'm afraid it will continuing getting more frayed on the edges. i'm a careful washer and like other posters do not put them in the dryer. Too bad because they're cute! Rating: [2 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Noor on Friday 04 April, 2008 I was using the simply dappi covers (with prefolds and snappi fasteners), then upgraded to these. I find them less convenient. They are difficult to put on (I can't get my babysitters to use them, although they were fine with the dappi covers). The diaper bunches up in the front and is hard to get over my baby's tummy. The velcro irritates my baby's skin. The diaper does not hold poop well. The poop stays inside, but both diaper cover and diaper get messy. With the dappi covers, only the diaper got messy. I learned from this that simplicity is the best way to go with cloth diapers. Rating: [2 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Laurie on Thursday 27 March, 2008 They are more trim and I do like the waterproofing, but I have been using my Super Brites for only a month and they are already frayed and ratty looking. They do hold leaks as long as you do not put them in the dryer (the instructions say that you can). The one cover that I dryed is no longer waterproof. I suggest to stick with the super whisper wraps! Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by jennifer on Monday 17 March, 2008 I totally love these, the colors are great and I like that they are trimmer than the regular whisper wrap. Also, I am a big fan of the gusset, and so far haven't had any problems with odors or fraying, but haven't had them all that long, so we'll see. For know though, a big thumbs up! Rating: [3 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Rachel on Sunday 16 March, 2008 While I LOVE the appearance of the pink Bummis Super Brite I just received, after the first time my daughter wore it, I could smell urine on the cover - the smell hasn't gone away after numerous washings. I am disappointed in the Super Brite and will not be purchasing any more - I'll stick to the Super Whisper Wraps! Rating: [4 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Jennie on Monday 03 March, 2008 I have also had the snagging and fraying issue. After just a few washes, these started fraying around the legs. I don't dry them. I'm very dissapointed in the quality compared to the whisper wrap. However, they don't leak. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Michaela on Monday 03 March, 2008 Great diaper cover, these seem less bulky then the super whisper wrap and I love that they're water proof. I am purchasing another now. Rating: [3 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by carmen on Monday 11 February, 2008 This cover does hold leaks well, even through naps, but it is snagging and fraying all over the elastic gussets after only 10 washes! (I don't even put it in the drye) I am very disappointed with the durabilty, but performance is great. I will probably not buy another one (even though the colors are fabulous) simply because I want a product that will last. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Carlee on Monday 21 January, 2008 I got these for my 2 year old and they work so much better than the dappi covers. I like them better than the whisper wraps too because the whisper wraps are not water proof and absorb some of the urine, where as the super brites do not absorb it; they're water proof which I really like. Rating: [4 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by kaisha on Friday 18 January, 2008 i love the way these fit my 2yr old. however she did have a leak in these at the binding on the gusset. Rating: [4 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by john on Sunday 13 January, 2008 I purchased these covers because I loved the super whisper wrap and loved the colors offered with the super brite wraps. They work well-no leaks, still the same great Bummis product, the gussets are nice...BUT as far as the fit with the prefold goes, it is best to stick with a tri-fold and no snappi...otherwise, I've found that the cover doesn't cover the prefold without LOTS of tucking in. Overall a great product. |
