Rating: [3 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Tricia on Thursday 11 October, 2012I loved this carrier. it was SO comfortable and it had all sorts of handy features - the hood, the pockets, etc. Using the infant insert in the summer might get a bit hot for everyone, but my baby was born in November so we had no issues with that. I honestly used my Moby more in the infant stage because I felt like his wobbly head was better supported without me fearing he would suffocate. But once my baby started crawling and exploring the world around him - he hated it. He wanted to face out so badly he would strain himself trying to bend over backwards. I was so sad because I loved this thing. I ended up getting a Beco Gemini, which is very similar in that it is ergonomic for mom and baby, but does have an front facing configuration. No cool pockets or hood for me though. :( We are keeping our Ergo for now - because it is one of the few carriers that is also comfortable for my husband to use. I have read complaints that the shoulders are too bulky for smaller women - but personally I think once your kiddo hits 20+ lbs you'll be grateful for those large padded shoulder straps. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Jessica on Wednesday 13 April, 2011 Cotton Babies Verified Purchase I LOVE my ergo! I bought it to increase my productivity to wear baby on my back for a move. I didn't buy it until my little one was 8 months old, so I can't speak for how it works for a newborn. But I can say since it doesn't lauder repeatedly well (occasionally launder, i think it says) I wouldn't bother using it at least full time until your baby is past the constant spit up stage (about 6 months for my baby). It took me a few weeks to be completely comfortable putting baby on my back by myself, but now I'm a total pro and it takes me no time to get her back there and secure. She's very content snuggled up to my back, it's an absolute win-win. This is also the ONLY baby carrier my husband is comfortable using, so it's very daddy friendly. It adjusts easily. I love the pocket for my keys & cell phone. The sleep hood never gets used for it's purpose, but the straps for it keep baby content with chewing, holding, and looking at them. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Jennifer on Saturday 15 January, 2011 I've tried several carriers and this is the one to go with as your child grows (if you have the money, I liked something like the bjorn when they're really small and this as they get bigger).
I still use it for my 30+lb. two year old for running into stores sometimes...great on front and back and for traveling...used it several times when flying.
There are sooo many carriers out there but if you've found this one there's no more need to look around! Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Debra on Tuesday 09 November, 2010 I love my Ergo! I bought it when my son was 7 months old and last carried him in it when he was 2.5, 35lbs and I was 8 months pregnant. I was still comfortable wearing it- but my knees did hurt a bit. Not the fault of the carrier, but the pregnancy. Now I use it on the go with my newborn, but I like it better for an older baby. The only reason for this is that it I have a moby wrap that I also love (for newborns). The Ergo newborn insert doesn't keep my babies head in place as well as the Moby, nor is it as comfortable to wear under a jacket. The ergo is my preferred carrier for an 4 month plus baby. I love how comfortable it is and have walked with my toddler for 6 hours (around the vancouver olympics) with out wishing I had a stroller. He was also very comfortable napping in it too! Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Layton on Tuesday 29 December, 2009 This is a great carrier. I bought it to use as a backpack for my 18 month old son, and used it for a full year until his baby sister was born. It's great to wear around your waist just in case your toddler gets tired of walking--much better than pushing an empty stroller around! And though I initially carried my newborn in a Maya sling my neck and back felt much better carrying her in the ergo in the front. GREAT CARRIER!! Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Audria on Tuesday 04 August, 2009 This is THE BEST carrier on the market. I have carried my son everywhere in it, including 12 hour days at Disneyland! I tried the Bjorn until he hit 15 pounds and it was so uncomfortable for my weak neck and back. But with the Ergo, my feet hurt before I experience any back pain at all! Also, we live in the desert and even at 110 degrees outside he and I are very comfortable. I used and loved the Sleepy Wrap and Moby Wrap for a long time, but I couldn't wear them in the heat and they were hard to take on and off on errand-running days. With the Ergo, I have no problem putting him on my back by myself (people are always amazed when I perform this trick)! This is absolutely worth the investment. At 25 pounds and 9 months I can easily keep my son (and my back) happy and content during my busy lifestyle. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Ashley on Saturday 04 July, 2009 I love this carrier! I didn't have the infant insert so didn't start using until son was a few months old, but he's almost one now, and we use it regularly. We've only tried the front position so far, but it's easy to use and comfortable for baby, mom and dad. A friend lent us her Baby Bjorn early on and we found the ERGO to be much more comfortable for us as well as apparently better for baby's spine and hips. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Karen on Wednesday 22 April, 2009 Wish I had got this when my son was born and not wasted money on the Bjorn! I could never use the Bjorn (active version), because I had a c-section, and it killed my back and belly. The Ergo is wonderful!!! I can still carry my almost-1 year old son in the front position comfortably. So easy to put on, great zipper pocket feature. Really, I wish I had invested in this earlier. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Rachel on Monday 20 April, 2009 Can't sing enough praise for the ERGO! It has been and continues to be a lifesaver. I bought it before my son was born and very quickly learned I made the right decision. This carrier stands way above all the others out there in terms of quality design, comfort for both the parent and child, and versatility. I like to be on the go and I don't like to carry a purse, so I love the generous zipper pocket. When my son was a newborn, I could get out a lot more than I would without it because he was cozy and content all snuggled up next to me. When he was 6-8 months I started doing the hip carry which was great during shopping trips. With the hip carry, I feel like I have my arm around him to hug him, but I also have the use of my arms without having to put him down. He loves being close to me and he can see where we are going. Now that he is 13 months, I also use the back pack position. Works like a charm to get him to sleep as I work in the garden. If you want a carrier that will be comfortable from newborn thtough the toddler stages and suit an active lifestyle, the ERGO is the answer. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Jennifer on Friday 13 February, 2009 Cotton Babies Verified Purchase I absolutely love my ERGO. I bought it when DS was 6 months old and out growing the wraps. I wear him every day in it, and he is 20 months old now. He will sleep in it when I'm out, and is happy doing chores with me around the house on my back. I am pregnant again, and it is so easy to give hold him like he needs without lots of stress on my body. My back never hurts, and sometimes I wear it for hours. I recommend the ERGO to every new mom. I was able to put my 10 month old in one and give it a test run while I shopped around. It was love at first wear!!! She is so comfortable in it and it was so comfortable for me to wear. I have since went for a long walk...she was fussy and immediately fell asleep in it. I put the hood up and she slept for well over an hour!! It was awesome!!!!! Rating: [2 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Craig on Wednesday 01 October, 2008 Very disappointed. Wanted to upgrade from $29.99 Infantino Euro Rider that our baby loves but is not-so-comfortable for hours on mom and dad. (We also had a Chicco carrier).
With dad wearing the Ergo we can keep the baby in there for about 10 minutes. With mom he screams constantly after 5 seconds. We watched the DVD and have tried front, back and side.
We think our baby hates it so much because he cannot explore and look around as much as in the Infantino.
In our case, money not well-spent. Two-stars because at least it's comfortable for the parent to wear. Loses three stars because it is hot to wear, uncomfortable for our child, expensive and a pain to put assemble compared to the other carriers we have used. Could even be one star. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Victoria on Tuesday 15 July, 2008 Cotton Babies Verified Purchase I love this baby carrier! I nurse in it all the time and can do it anywhere hands free!! So going out and about is very easy. I think everyone should have one of these. Definitely worth every penny. Anytime baby is fussy, I can put her in here and she is instantly soothed but I can still get things done. My nephew is a fussy baby, but I put him in here when he spent the night and got him to fall right to sleep.
Also I can wear it all day and it doesn't hurt my back one bit. If you are contemplating getting it, get it!! I just wish I would've discovered it earlier. First of all I would like to say thanks Cotton Babies for the prompt shipping!! It came only two days after I ordered it. I did upgrade shipping as I live in Alaska and wasnt sure if I would receive it before our vacation. It is very light weight and has the best support for me and my 9 month old. Im tired of dealing with other slings and carriers on the market where you have to tie it to stay secure. I have bought multipule slings and found them to be very frusterating and painful for me after wearing them for awhile. My lil girl is very active and she wouldnt keep sill untill I put her in this carrier. I can rest assured that I can now carry her in this for a long time during our St. Thomas vaction!!! Thanks Cotton Babies!! Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Wendy on Tuesday 11 March, 2008 Cotton Babies Verified Purchase I recieved my Ergo Carrier today and I am already thrilled with my purchase. I have four children and I wish that I had known about this carrier sooner. I have tried many other slings and carriers, but each of them either hurt my back/shoulders or made me feel as if the baby wasn't entirely secure. This is THE carrier to get to have a truly 'hands free' experience. I used the Ergo today with my 4-month old and she even nursed in it as I cleaned my house. Later in the day, my 2-year-old wanted to try it and she had a wonderful time using it in the back position as I made supper. Just based on today's experience, it was well worth the expense. I am looking forward to using my Ergo this summer during trips to the park and zoo. I am no longer torn between trying to decide whether to hold my baby or to try to get things done. I have a very painful lower back problem, that until now, my 11month old son has been forced to ride in the stroller. He LOVES the ERGO!! I can carry him around the stores, for walks, and doing chores. I have no pain at all, it is soooo comfortable. He is naturally very wiggly, but is so comfortabl in the Ergo. He feels like a little monkey baby on my back, and he is so happy that mommy carries him almost everywhere now. I have also tried a few other types of carries, and have been re-affirmed in my "you get what you pay for" mentality.
