Snappi Cloth Diaper Fastener Reviews (24) Write Review Rating: [4 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by rebecca on Friday 08 January, 2010Everyone should have one of these. I like it for when all my bamboo fitteds are dirty and I need to use a prefold because I can actually secure it around my son instead of just laying it in a cover. I've never attempted pins and probably never will since I have this! I only gave it a four because it is not my normal diaper routine to use it, I like fitteds with covers the best. My frugality prevents me from having enough fitteds though so I do have a few prefolds I use. Yay Snappi! Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Denise on Saturday 20 June, 2009 Love these! My baby's pre-folds fit so much better than with pins. I love the way the center prongs pull the center of the diaper up--really reduces sagging if it is stretched properly. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Bethany on Saturday 06 June, 2009 Love these! They are what inspired me to cloth diaper and I can get the prefolds nice and snug at the legs and torso with them. Use them under dappi nylon pants and thirsties fitted covers. They work great! Rating: [3 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Susan on Thursday 04 June, 2009 I have been using pins but finally got the snappi. I am not having as much success with it as others. I am using pull on covers. I find that after he has had his diaper on a while the snappi seems to let the diaper sag quite a bit. The pins seem to give him a trimmer and tighter fit not so much sagging. I would think the snappi would work great under a snap or velcro wrap style cover. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by senia on Tuesday 21 April, 2009 great quality. we've been using these for 9mths and they are great! they took the fear out of accidentally poking my daughter with a pin though you do have to still be careful because the teeth are pretty sharp (not good to accidentally step or sit on one). if only i could keep better track of them in our crazy house lol. i have lost about 4 of these so far so we have to go back to get more since i'm down to my last two. Rating: [4 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Natasha on Friday 03 April, 2009 I ordered the toddler size to use with the premium-size Indian prefold diapers. They fit fine together, and it was easy to figure out how to use the Snappi (I'd never seen one before). DEFINITELY beats the diaper pins I've used years ago when babysitting. (The Indian prefolds are so thick in comparison to old Birdseye diapers that it would be kind of hard to pin them, I think.)
My little boy did get hold of the Snappi (very fascinating, apparently) and it pinched his finger, so make sure you have a diaper cover on & keep curious fingers away.
I can't comment on how long these last, because I just got them. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Geri on Thursday 08 January, 2009 My husband and I both love our Snappi. I don't believe we could use prefolds without it. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Tina on Monday 29 December, 2008 I have been CDing for about 4 months now and been using pins, until now, SNAPPIS rock and I will never go back to pins again! Thanks Cotton Babies...you are the only place I will EVER order online from again! Many older women that find out I cloth diaper always comment on how I must poke my fingers all the time, when I show them the snappi they are AMAZED, and very jealous they didn't have them around when they cloth diapered! :) Rating: [4 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Gretchen on Wednesday 09 July, 2008 I got one of these in my "try-it kit." They seem to work well for what they are made for, and are a neat idea! However, I don't use it. The wraps that are out there seem to hold the cloth diapers in place perfectly without it, and I'd rather not put something with such sharp teeth in my baby's diaper. I'd love to see an actual photo of these in use and recommendations for when/why to use them. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Sarah on Sunday 25 May, 2008 I wouldn't even use cloth diapers if I couldn't have snappis!
True that they are harder to use without a cover. We didn't have too much problem with diapers falling off, but with the snappi getting caught on things (couch, mommy's shirt, etc). Now we use velcro dipes when going coverless.
But after cloth diapering for 4 years, I can truly say that I LOVE LOVE LOVE snappis!!!:) Rating: [3 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Melissa on Wednesday 30 April, 2008 These are just okay for me. I have teens at home as well as an infant and I purchased these snappi's so that my teens wouldn't hurt my DS when changing him, but I ended up going out and buying regular pins. When my DS has diaper rash I like to just let him wear his cloth and no cover so that I know when he wets and can change him promptly plus he gets more air to his bum, but you can't use a snappi and do that because the diaper just falls off. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Rachael on Tuesday 22 April, 2008 In my opinion, these are a MUST HAVE if you are going to be using prefolds!! I love them! Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Amy on Tuesday 19 February, 2008 I'm new to CDing... & what a genius idea! The "teeth" just grab the sides and middle of the diaper and !voila! it's secure with no pokies! To me, it's optional b/c I use bought nicely fitted diaper wrap/covers (ProRap & Bummis) & that means I don't have secure my prefolds with a snappi prior to putting on a cover. This is a MUST if you are opting for pull-on style covers that don't wrap around like a disposable. I like to use my snappi when I'm securing a hand folded flat diaper on him: for example, I snappi the nice & trim "kite fold" as it may shift a little even with a wrap over him. Anyone can use this & should! It's only pocket change more than pins would cost you! Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by MELISSA on Friday 01 February, 2008 I was hesitant to use prefolds because I was uncomfortable about pinning, but Snappi's makes it so easy. When DD is in prefolds, this is the only way to go! Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by cheramie on Friday 01 February, 2008 these are awesome... i tried CDing my first child, but got discouraged due to pins scratching him and daycare never getting him diapered tight enough. back to CDing my third baby, and second child as an infant...these are great, what an improvement!
Sarah in Pennsylvania...I'd say try the toddler size snappi on your big boy. I have big boys too, they do even out though-if that gives you any comfort! :) Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Cara on Tuesday 27 November, 2007 these are a must when using flats or prefolds. way easier than pinning! Just be sure you use with a diaper cover...these have been known to break and can cause a welt on your child if there's no cover on. Hi-five to the person who invented these! Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Jeanne on Wednesday 31 October, 2007 I think this is a brilliant invention! =) The pins were the ones that used to put me off from doing a cloth diapering. I love having this around! it made changing cloth diaper a breeze. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Reviewed by Sarah on Friday 12 October, 2007 I discovered the snappi from a friend when my fourth baby was born in March. I loved it and found it really helpful in keeping diaper in place and on baby's bum! (I didn't use pins with other children; I just tried to fold the diaper and make it stay in the wrap.) My only disappointment with the snappi is that my baby is a super sized baby and it quickly became too small for diapering him. He had to start wearing premium size chinese prefolds around 4 months. (He is over 21 lbs and tall at 7 months). Has anyone found the snappi useful for diapering an older and or larger baby and if so am I missing something? Could snappi make a longer version for babies like mine?
Wondering in Pennsylvania,
