Cotton Babies Verified PurchaseThese are wonderful covers. I used them first over our Bum Genius diapers that started leaking once my daughter crawled. Now, I use Indian prefolds with the cover and they work just as well. I have no concerns about the cover appearing fragile like some mentioned. They are very hardy. I never have leaks (other than the first few times when I didn't get the prefold tucked in). They fit my son who is now 19 months old - 25lbs. and 33ins. I have not had any problems with the snaps. After over a year of use the only sign of wear I see is some stretching at the hips. Because it overlaps the front I never get leaking at the tabs. My sister uses much more expensive pocket diapers and has leaks everytime with both her boys at 1yr and 2 yrs. She is amazed that I use cloth successfully at nap and bedtime. I use the chinese regular prefolds inside and use a doubler (preemie prefold) for night. This has made cloth diapering so affordable! Cotton Babies Verified Purchase These are not made we'll at all. I thought they were great when I first bought 3 so I bought 7 more and really wish I hadn't. My LO is only 13 mo old and they quit working a long time ago. They are now my expensive back up when we are at home. EVERY TIME in her car set or stroller I ended up with a wet stroller or car seat. The flip are made the exact same way you just get to choose a print. These are so overpriced and DO NOT last. Rating:  [3 of 5 Stars!]

They are easy to use and I like how they stretch to fit over the pre-folds. Cotton Babies Verified Purchase I have one of these covers and I must say I don't know why I don't have more! I tend to "over fluff" at night on my 19mo. And I feel like these run a bit large, they go over all that fluff a lot better than my flips or any other cover. The rise is nice and high and it seems to stand up really well! I wash every other day and this has held up for almost a year now with no problems.
It is very trim but can seem a bit more fragile around the snaps. So I am always careful of that.
I really like this cover a lot! If you are on a budget it is at the top of my list on must haves!! Rating: [4 of 5 Stars!]

My son does does not have chunky thighs so I can't get the econbum cover to fit tightly around the legs. That being said I still have not had leaks after 11 months using both the flips and the econbum. I also use pocket bumgenious and fuzzibunz which I love. I just enjoy not having to stuff the covers and they dry so much faster then any of the other options I have tried. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!]

Cotton Babies Verified Purchase For the first 18 months of my daughters life we used BumGenius and Softbums all in one diapers but starting around 12 months she started leaking thru them- even during the day. we were using 2 large microfiber pads and the diaper was bulky and not holding up when she was wetting it heavily so we decided to switch to prefolds. I purchased 25 prefolds used that i found for a great deal and began using my all in one covers with them. they were SUPER bulky and were leaking out the leg holes because the pre fold and cover were both so big so i decided to order these ECONOBUM covers- I purchased 6 (covers only i cannot attest to the quality of the prefold that they make) and I LOVE it. wish i would have done it 6 months prior- the covers are VERY trim and fit my tiny 20 lb daughter AMAZINGLY! we have not had ONE leak since the day we started using these! you can tell she is SO much more comfortable in these covers. the fit GREAT around her legs which is what we have always had issues with! you CANNOT go wrong with these covers!! The price is the best value I have found hands down! I have only been using them a few weeks so i cannot attest to the durability after long time ownership but If you hang these babies up to dry (which wouldn't take long AT ALL because these covers are so thin) i know they would last a LONG time! I will probably NOT use these covers with our second baby which is due in April until they are older though- I personally don't think they would be a good fit for the 6 pound babies that I have (I will stick with my BumGenius and Softbums one size AIO for the first year) but with 25 prefolds and 6 covers I get a good solid 3 days out of these diapers before i have to wash them. which is better than the every single day laundry i was doing prior. I also received a FLIP cover free with my purchase and I can say nothing but good things about it as well. It is simply a little better quality which reflects the price difference but if you are looking for a cost effective great product- OR if you are like me and need something that absorbs a lot for an older baby that you probably won't be using too much longer I HIGHLY recommend the econobum covers. Family if I'd known then what I know now would have saved a lot of money by getting these and using what already had. I would however suggest some kind of stay dry sock or similar product for night. I find these are preferable under clothes to other things. I also have one flip cover which is also nice. I have been very happy with every product that have gotten from CB. Love the company. If I could start over, I'd have a stash of only these with infant and premium indian pfs (also from cotton babies). That's IT. This cover is SO TRIM over pinned or trifolded pf's it makes wearing regular clothes easy, whereas most covers are bulky enough to make wearing regular clothing a challenge. (In the past I've used it over even the bulkiest of fitted diapers, too.) Plus, this cover really fits from 8 lbs and is the ONLY cover that fits my hefty 3 yo right now for nights. Yes, the material is thin. But who cares, if it lasts? I have Econobum covers last about 2 years of constant hard use, including drying in the dryer. I'm sure they'd last longer if I hung to dry. When my heavy wetter started leaking through BGs even when stuffed with the newborn insert and the regular thick insert, I started using Econobum at night and naptime and they absorb so much that it contains it all (even when combined with a mess) and the cover is still wipeable and reusable! What a relief! I also have the Indian cotton prefolds from this site and they are great but not as thick to handle as large a quantity as these. My baby is still only 13 lbs and 3 mos old so I fold these prefolds in thirds sideways and they fit great! They are bulky but not much bigger than a regular BG would be anyway. Cotton Babies Verified Purchase Please please PLEASE do not let fixable issues prevent you from buying this cover! If you're on a tight budget, wanting to save the upfront cost of cloth diapering, and have the time, then this is RIGHT FOR YOU!
I will address big issues previous reviews have mentioned:
1) tearing at the snaps - in order to prevent tearing, you must open the snaps where they attach. Do not pull on the fabric!! This could cause tearing of the PUL.
2) the backside of the snap is digging into my baby's back when cover is tightened - easy easy fix! Google how to "angel wing fold" for the prefold (as apposed to laying the prefold in the cover) which will wrap around your baby's side and back..this will prevent any marks from being made on his/her skin. Make sure the prefold CANNOT be seen sticking out of the cover...otherwise you will find a leaky mess.
3) elastic around the legs is gapping - this is because the cover is not tight enough. Pull those straps to a tighter snap, making sure the tabs wrap around the back, to avoid gapping and leakage!
4) the cover is thin - ...and? I imagine this makes it breathable and I've had no issues so far...
Easy to wipe off and lasts through a couple diaper changes. Thank you cottonbabies for making the transition from disposable to cloth so easy and affordable!! Rating: [3 of 5 Stars!]

I have some of the older white trimmed as well as some green trimmed diapers. My daughter is really chunky and we have never had leaking issues. There is one downside. I think that because she is so chunky she rubs the fabric a lot around the legs. On the white trimmed covers the trim on the leg area is getting holes. I am sad that this is happening. They still work great and I will probably replace the trim myself soon because the rest of the diaper is in excellent condition. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!]

I wish I would have kept trying when he was littler, but now I will be ready for the next baby. The cover is great, washes easy. The first 4 I have only had the double PUL on the waist snaps. My newest 3 with the colored trim have the double PUL through out the front for the waist and rise snaps. Such a great improvement. I love the colored trim and love that the rest is white. I want to be able to do all my diapers together, so white is best for me. My only issue is the front will leak at night at the waist. My son is a tummy sleeper and if I don't have the right prefold or flatfold and doubler combo I have leaks. I don't like the econobum prefolds - super thick and bulky. They are absorbent, but still too long and awkward. The covers are the only ones I have and I love them. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!]

Cotton Babies Verified Purchase I have previously used bum genius one size diapers, but they took so long to wash and dry and I always worried I didn't get the inserts completely clean. I purchased flip diapers and two Econobum covers. I must say I prefer these covers over flip. They are the perfect width for prefolds, flat fold diapers and I can successfully use the flip disposables in these as well :) The snaps for these diapers are much stronger and easier to snap and unsnap than flip as well. It is great for prefolds, fitted, flats, and trifolding. It has a great fit with no leaks so far. It is a basic, good cover, and the price is right, esp if you can catch a good sale. I have 4 covers in a rotation of 12 covers, so they all get used weekly or biweekly... so far, all are holding up just fine.... will it last till the next kid? we shall see... My only complaint is i wish they offered a couple more trim colors.... I prefer Flips, but this is my second favorite.... Rating: [4 of 5 Stars!]

After almost two years of use (half w/ one kid and from birth to potty training w/ the second), the covers are showing wear on the lining along the back of the diapers (the ones we bought new and the seconds). We don't use the Econobum prefolds, but have had no problems with leaking or a bad fit. I was hoping the covers would last longer, but we've been very pleased with these diapers especially being able to buy them as seconds. Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!]

Cotton Babies Verified Purchase I have been using these for about 10 months now- my son is now a year old- and I love these! They fit well and the leg gatherings are not stiff and hard- I've tried some brands that left marks on his inner thighs but not with these. I hate the prefolds that came with these because they are bulky and only just now kind of are the right size for him. I have been using basic run-of-the-mill prefolds with these the whole time and have had no problems with leakage at all. They are holding up really well- the snaps are really strong. The sizing is great- I have been adjusting them as he has been growing and he still had plenty of room to grow into them (he weighs 23 lbs now). I like these the best out of the ones I have tried (I have tried Thirsties and Flips diaper covers). I don't use these at night- I use bumgenius pocket diapers at night- but for my day time use I love how they fit.
The only issue I had was a weird smell when I first got them- I think I've read other reviews noting the same. I followed all the washing instructions and did extra rinses, etc. and nothing seemed to be working but then finally it went away. View all 107 reviews |
