Cloth Diaper Creams

Ahh, spring cleaning. The time of year when you find all those little nooks and crannies in your home that have been ignored all winter long and give them a good cleaning. It’s also a great time to do the same for your cloth diapers. Did you know there are some hidden areas of your cloth diapers that may need a little extra TLC every so often?   Cloth diapers are generally worn every other day and washed 3-4 times a week, depending on the size of your stash. If you have hook and loop closures, this allows opportunities for

Just for Fun: April Fools’ Day
March 31, 2012 9:55 am | by

One of the things I love about having children is experiencing their sense of humor at different ages and stages. My sons have an amazing sense of humor. I frequently explain to people that my twin sons are much like the Two-Headed Monster on Sesame Street. They share a lot of inside jokes and once one gets a case of the giggles, the other joins in and they are nearly unstoppable. A couple of years ago, I took a risk and introduced my children to April Fools’ day. It was a big hit and has quickly become a beloved day

Traveling Mishaps
March 28, 2012 2:11 pm | by

We’ve been fortunate enough to take Vicki with us whenever we have traveled. While that provided many opportunities for fun and adventure, it’s also risky to be that far away from home, away from our routine, and experiencing a ton of new things all at once. No matter how much we plan in advance, something always goes awry. We’ve been through plenty of sleepless nights as she adjusted to a hotel room and different time zones, and had a few plane trips where the screaming just wouldn’t stop. But nothing compares to these two unforgettable memories. The very first time

Beyond the Diaper… Alternate Uses for Cloth

Cloth Diaper Creams

So you had your kids, they used the cloth diapers, and now everyone’s in college (or kindergarten, or preschool, or whatever) and those diapers are not getting use any more. What are you supposed to do with what you have left? Some people use cloth diapers with the express intent to resell the diapers when they’re done using them. And that’s definitely an option. But not the only one! Lending/giving diapers to friends is another way to go. A good portion of our tiny newborn diapers have been lent out to friends. In 2010 I was due with my youngest

Why I LOVE Babywearing
March 21, 2012 2:18 pm | by

I bought my first pouch sling at a farmer’s market in Salt Lake City when Addie was about six months old. I was wandering around wearing her in some awful strap and clip contraption when I saw a mannequin wearing the sling. I asked if I could try it and as soon as Addie’s round little rump took a seat in the sling, I handed over my money and never looked back. Since I discovered babywearing so late with Addie, I couldn’t wait for the day that I could wear a tiny little newborn. I never tried any other sling

Cloth Diapers 101: Types of Cloth Diapers
March 19, 2012 1:46 pm | by

It has been more than a year since we shared information about the different styles or types of cloth diapers currently available. There are a lot of new products that have been introduced in the last year, so we thought a little refresher course might help. Just like any new hobby or skill you learn, parenting and especially cloth diapering, comes with its own jargon. I was really confused when I first started, then I got the hang of it. I felt pretty confident when I joined the Cotton Babies team only to learn there was a lot more to

Adventures in Overnight Diapering

Cloth Diaper Creams

The trickiest part of diapering a baby is getting through the night without leaks or an uncomfortable diaper waking the baby up. As if we need to get up more times in the night anyway.Fortunately, there are a few tricks up our cloth diapering sleeves to help keep your baby happy and their sheets dry until morning. Double stuffing, or putting multiple inserts into one diaper, is a simple technique to get more absorbency out of your cloth diapers. For pocket diapers like the Bum Genius 4.0, simply add another insert in the pocket. I like to use a newborn
