Prepping Cloth Diapers

So you’re shopping for cloth diapers and wondering how to choose between pockets or all-in-ones? Let’s discuss. Pockets: One of the great things about pocket diapers is that you can adjust the absorbency based on what you need. Baby wearing the diaper overnight? More inserts! Just wearing the diaper for an hour before bed? Not so many inserts. This is also good for those of us that have heavy-wetters. Some kids just need a diaper that is more absorbent and when you’re using pocket diapers you have control over that. Of course this means that you’re going to have put

Cloth 101: What new parents need to know about cloth diapering.
May 19, 2012 10:37 am | by

When I was pregnant with my first baby, I decided to look into cloth diapering. I had heard it was very different from the cloth diapering of the olden days, so I thought I would try and find some more information and then make an educated decision about whether I wanted to try it or use disposables. I immediately became overwhelmed. What were prefolds? How many diapers did I need? How do you wash cloth diapers? Isn’t it gross? Why would anyone want to do this, anyway? So if you’re feeling inundated with too much information, here are the highlights

Warehouse Roulette – Leaky Banana!
May 17, 2012 5:30 am | by

I’ve been bugged by Jenn and others to write posts on the blog for a long time, but I didn’t want to have to figure out what to write about while staying somewhat on topic. So the obvious solution was to write about random things in the warehouse. Warehouse Roulette! To make it fun and very random, I put all of the warehouse locations in a box, mix it up and draw a location. I could just pick things, but then it wouldn’t really be random. Someday I’ll write about the tree frogs that stick to the doors at night

On Becoming a Mom

Even on the way to the hospital I wasn’t so sure I wanted kids. Sure, I wanted to go through the motions, I wanted to tell people I was pregnant, I wanted the big belly, I wanted the showers and the inevitable excitement of going into labor, but did I actually want kids? I wasn’t so sure. We had been married for four years, it seemed the next logical step in the carbon copy plan of the American Dream, right after white picket fence and right before country club membership. (Neither of which I have to this day.) When they

Cloth 201: Traveling? Don’t forget the dirty diapers!
May 14, 2012 2:47 pm | by

A few weeks ago, our car started smelling really weird. At first, I ignored it because really, when does a car carrying two toddlers smell GOOD? But eventually we broke down and did a full-car clean out. What did we find in the back hatch area of our car? A slightly wet cloth diaper! Fortunately, it was only wet and not solid waste. Can you imagine if had been poop? I can guarantee that we would have found it sooner! Keeping up with diapers and wet bags is just another mom duty that comes along with cloth diapering. Even the
