Tuesday Giveaway: Sleep like a baby!
October 9, 2012 2:30 pm | by

Don’t you just love how people love to use that phrase “sleep like a baby”? That is, until they become parents and quickly learn how babies actually sleep. If I could actually give you sleep in today’s giveaway, I would. As a parent, I know how precious sleep is. But since I can’t give you sleep, I’ll try to give you the next best thing… a cloth diapering accessory that (hopefully) helps your little one sleep just a bit longer at night.

We are often asked how to prevent cloth diaper leaks in little ones at nap and bed time as they grow. The answer is simple – add absorbency. Natural fibers, like cotton and hemp, are more absorbent and less bulky than synthetic fibers. Synthetic fibers, like microfiber and suedecloth, definitely have their place in nighttime cloth diapering though. These fibers help wick moisture away from your little one’s delicate skin to prevent rash. So what is our favorite recommendation for overnight cloth diapering? A bumGenius 4.0 cloth diaper!

We love the stay dry lining of the bumGenius 4.0 for keeping your baby’s skin drier. We also love the pocket, because it makes adding that little extra absorbency for overnight easy. If you are new to overnight cloth diapering, or your little one is beginning to out wet the bumGenius one-size and newborn inserts that came with your 4.0, we recommend trying the Hemp Babies Diaper Doubler. It’s a great place to start for overnight cloth diapering. It’s easy to stuff into the pocket along with your bumGenius inserts and because it’s hemp, it’s a trim choice for added absorbency. As your child grows, we offer a variety of Hemp Babies products designed to fit a whole range of sizes and cloth diapering styles.

For today’s giveaway, each winner will receive a Cotton Babies prize pack that includes a bumGenius 4.0 cloth diaper, a Hemp Babies Diaper Doubler and a pair of bumGenius BabyLegs. To enter, simply share with your bedtime routine. Is it a routine for just the baby or does the whole family get involved?

We gather as a family to read scriptures and have a family prayer. Then the kids, all five, brush their teeth, go potty, or for the baby get a fresh diaper and we head into rooms. There they say their own prayers and sing a short song. After that we big people keep our fingers crossed that they sleep all night! 🙂

My son takes a bath, then it’s story time, then it’s bed time. It works pretty good 🙂

The baby who will be using the cloth diaper isn’t here yet. But I have a three year old as well. Currently, bed time starts with brushing teeth and going potty, then we snuggle in bed and read a book. I leave for 10-15 minutes then check on her; sometimes she’s passed out but usually she’s playing quietly. That’s our final goodnight. 🙂 Quick, simple, and we both enjoy it.

We have a toddler and a 7 month old so it’s bathtime, some screen time, and a bottle for the little one. I then rock the baby while the toddler lays down in bed. I stay till they both are asleep.

We have yet to have our girls, but I really like the idea of it being a whole family thing. I was just wondering about those hemp inserts – so glad you did a post on them!

We have 3 kids, and the routine has been different with each one. For baby #3, there is hardly any routine! Sometimes she goes to bed when we do (late!) and other times, she wants to sleep at 7 pm. Recently, it’s been the 7pm sleepiness, so I read her a book and then nurse her to sleep. The older kids go to bed sometime between 8 and 9:30, but I’m working to get that closer to the 8 time slot. 🙂

We have five kids. The older 4 generally are in bed by 930. My daughter shares a room with our toddler, so she takes him to bed. Then we get the baby to sleep while we have quiet time watching TV.

Diaper wise, I only use hemp at night. We have been using hemp prefolds pretty consistently for the last five months or so 🙂

I have two little ones. Generally they both bath together, then I take the baby who still nurses and my husband takes the toddler. They both go down at the same time.

Our bedtime routine involves my hubby and I bathing our 3 month old daughter. Then while I dry and dress her (we might play one of her favorite songs)hubby gets her bottle ready. He then feeds her and tries to get her to go to sleep, even succeeds sometimes. Others I may feed her a bit more (BF) and rock her in her room with the lights low or just simply put her in her crib with some quiet lullabies playing.

We have an 18 month old and a 3-week old. The 18 month old gets his PJs, a little milk, good night kisses, and cuddle with dad. The three week old gets a diaper change, PJs, and typically nurses herself to sleep. Not much of a routine with her yet.

The bedtime routine for our 4 month old girl starts between 7 and 7:30. I take her to her room to read a story. If daddy is home, we give him goodnight kisses on the way there. If not, we give our daddy bear (from Build-A-Bear with his voice recorded inside) kisses and listen to his voice a couple of times. Then I feed her, rock and sing to her til she’s almost asleep. Then its off to bed!

Our bedtime rountine with our 4 y.o little girl is to read a story together, and sing her favorite songs that consist of; Jesus loves me, you are my subshine, this little light of mine, and lastly twinkle twinkle little star. When baby sister gets here, in about 3 weeks, she will (hopefully) be a part of that rountine as well.

For my almost 2 year old son, we start with a bath. He loves the water! Then my husband and I both spend some time with him while we get him in his pajamas. After that we look at a few books. Lastly I pray and sing with him before he goes down.

Our bedtime routine with our older boys (5&7) is to get jammied and teeth brushed, read a few stories, and then tuck into bed. For our newborn … we are going with the flow 😉
