Real Mom Talk: Traveling with Cloth Diapers
June 10, 2014 4:10 pm | by

It’s summer time! Families are heading outside for the day, traveling for vacation, or going to visit families on a long weekend. Think you need to bring disposable diapers? Think again! flipBLOGad

Modern cloth diapering is easy when you’re out and about! You can grab some Flips with organic or stay dry inserts. This means you can pack for the day, weekend, or week without using a bunch of space in your bag. Need something easy for a sitter or grandma? Pack a few Freetimes, pre-stuffed 4.0s, or an Elemental. All-In-Ones seem to be more “grandma, sitter, daddy” friendly but they do end up taking up more space in your bag.

But what do you do with the dirty laundry? Keep it in a large wet bag! If you know you’re going to be gone for a week or so, this is where Flips would be handy. The disposable inserts would mean you can use your usual diapers and don’t have to buy disposable diapers. I would use those for the first few days and then switch to stay-dry or organic inserts. You could also just use organic inserts and wash them in the sink or shower by hand and hang to dry. Since they’re one layer, they dry super quick! And if you don’t want to mess with the poop, use some liners! I would prefer flushable liners in this instance where I can just flush the poop goodbye and continue with my day!

I really think the Flip system would be the best way to go. With so many choices as far as inserts and liners go, you really cannot go wrong. Whatever you decide to do, don’t stress about it! Have fun being out of the house and spending time with your little one and family or friends. Stressing just isn’t necessary when you’re going to have a blast. Just take a deep breath, grab what you think you can handle, and do it. And have a very happy and fun filled summer!
