Thursday Giveaway: Cloth Diaper Laundry

I’m not pointing fingers, but some of you may be using a laundry detergent that’s not safe for cloth diapers. It could be by choice or because you’re unaware of the harm that regular detergents can cause to cloth diapers.BGDetergentPouch400x400

Using a detergent that’s not formulated for cloth diapers causes leaks, odor and repelling issues. It could also void your warranty, cause a diaper rash or an allergic reaction, and even break down the elements of your cloth diapers.

Not all laundry detergents will have the same effect for everyone, so don’t fret too much if you have been washing your cloth diapers with something that’s not recommended. Just make a switch! You can find a list of suggested cloth diaper detergents here.

Regular detergents contain additives like optical brighteners, enzymes, fragrances and dyes. These detergents are great for washing clothes and other laundry, but cloth diapers need to be handled with care.

To make sure you’re washing your cloth diapers appropriately, we want to give two people a pack of bumGenius Laundry Detergent, a new bumGenius Wetbag, and a bumGenius Freetime (just in case you may have ruined an old cloth diaper by using a detergent on our no-no list).

Entering this week’s contest is easy! Just comment below with your favorite cloth diaper safe detergent. Bonus entries are also available.

And, while we can’t give participant a prize (we totally would if we could) for this giveaway, we can give advice. If you have a question about cloth diaper detergents, call us at 1-888-332-2243!
