Econobum is helping parents out…
May 17, 2010 6:18 pm | by

A few months ago, Cotton Babies became aware of a special need in San Francisco. We responded by donating some Econobum Full Kits to a project called “Help A Mother Out”. I hadn’t heard much about the donation (other than this post on their blog thanking us) until today. A little while ago, @helpamotherout posted this tweet on Twitter (http://bit.ly/aSv0FZ):

@Econobum demo from Natural Resources staff w/ mamas in #SF Chinatown. Thx again @cottonBabies http://tweetphoto.com/22854799 #hamo

This is the photo referenced in that tweet:

I have to admit, the faces of those mamas learning about cloth diapers brought a tear to my eye. Thanks @helpamotherout for making my day. It isn’t often that people come back with such an obvious “thanks”. Those faces of mamas actually learning how to use the diapers that will help them mean so much to me.

When those of us who are able step up to the plate and help one or two friends, together we make a big difference in thousands of (little) lives. It feels like yesterday that my husband was laid off and we were living on $30 a week for groceries. I was pregnant and we weren’t sure if ends were even going to meet every month.

Have you had a similar experience? Maybe you know of a mom or dad has lost their job and they are struggling just to figure out how to buy groceries… or worse, their choice is groceries or the house payment.

Econobum is intentionally priced in way that will encourage gift giving. Rather than wait for a significant event (like a baby shower), I wanted to encourage you to consider a “random act of kindness”. The gift of an Econobum Full Kit could mean that a family buys better food for their kids instead of spending money on disposable diapers. It might not seem like much, but $80 a month turns into fruits & veggies or meat a few more times that month. All healthy things that little bodies need to grow. Imagine what a difference you could make if you reached out… and, who knows, you might make a new friend in the process! Do it today (did you know that shipping is free at Cotton Babies?)!!

P.S. Due to the unfortunate prevalence of fraud, Cotton Babies doesn’t make gifts of diapers to individuals. However, if you are one of those families who is struggling to make ends meet, consider approaching a friend or your church and asking them to work with you to purchase this cloth diapering kit. Additionally, if you are using the WIC program, you can bring the coupon below into your local cloth diaper store (along with your WIC folder) and take 10% off any Econobum Full Kit. If they don’t stock Econobum, ask them to order the product for you with their next order!
