Winners of I’m glad you were born Promotion
May 26, 2010 12:58 pm | by

Dear Moms, Thank you so much for sharing your heart. We had over 300 entries and you sure made our job tough. We feel so privileged that every one of you took the time to express your thoughts and emotions through the I’m Glad You Were Born promotion. We hope you were able to take time and read through the entries yourself as we feel, while every story was unique, there are so many of you in similar situations. Moms, in every form of the word, contributed: single moms, young moms, mothers who have struggled to conceive, adoptive parents, moms

Econobum is helping parents out…
May 17, 2010 6:18 pm | by

A few months ago, Cotton Babies became aware of a special need in San Francisco. We responded by donating some Econobum Full Kits to a project called “Help A Mother Out”. I hadn’t heard much about the donation (other than this post on their blog thanking us) until today. A little while ago, @helpamotherout posted this tweet on Twitter ( @Econobum demo from Natural Resources staff w/ mamas in #SF Chinatown. Thx again @cottonBabies #hamo This is the photo referenced in that tweet: I have to admit, the faces of those mamas learning about cloth diapers brought a tear

Going for a Ride in the Fuss Bus
May 17, 2010 12:51 pm | by

Wow!  What a year it has been for me.  Now that I have older kids my life works in school years instead of calendar years, so in another couple weeks I get to count this year as O-V-E-R.  This year has included: Children in four different schools, none of which have their own transportation.  We had a preschool, a grade school, and two different high schools.  This meant not only a lot of driving but also a lot of getting in and out of the car since start/end times don’t always line up. A new baby, and all the loveliness

Rules About Poop
May 12, 2010 12:26 pm | by

I get to initiate lots of people to the idea of modern cloth diapers and, faithfully, the first question out of greenest of greenhorns is… “what do you do about, uh, dirty diapers”? Eyebrows raised, a little embarrassed to be asking… but every last one of them will ask the question and humorously, not very many of them will actually use the “poop” word. So, let’s break the ice. It’s formally called feces. Nobody in your house calls it feces. They all call it poop. If you have little boys, they probably come out of the bathroom laughing and bragging

Why would you want to use cloth diapers?
May 11, 2010 11:26 am | by

Are you considering cloth diapers? Good! It makes financial sense. It makes environmental sense. Let’s talk about why. Cloth diapers are cheaper to use than disposables. Disposable diapers cost around $0.25 per diaper change. That varies based on the type of disposable diaper you buy. If you buy cheap store brand diapers, you may spend as little as $0.09 per diaper. If you buy higher end name brand diapers, you could spend over $0.30 per diaper. Every single disposable diaper you buy and use is thrown in a landfill. How much money are you wasting? Replace that image of a

While you are working on your contest entry…
May 7, 2010 12:28 pm | by

While you are working on your contest entry, like this post and then tell us what you’re doing for Mother’s Day! I’m going to give away one bumGenius One-Size Organic All-In-One to random commenters all weekend! I’ll start… for Mother’s Day, my mom and dad are going to be visiting us. I’m sitting in the basement next to the bed they will be sleeping in. As I type this, I’m realizing that I can’t remember the last time that I spent Mother’s Day with my mom. It might have been the year that I left home (and I was 17).

Have you ever told your kids how happy you are that they were born? I was looking at my children wrestling on the couch the other day and had a melty mommy moment. Andrew has such a gentle heart. Oscar loves to laugh. The photo to the right is Elsie at a week old. She is fourteen months old now and turning into a little dancing (and couch wrestling!) diva. She was such a pleasant surprise. I didn’t know how much I could love another little person. Now I know. I tell my kids almost every night that God put
